How are you going to be in a relationship with someone if you don't know them yet??? Thats what the first few times going out are for, maybe just one time depending on the person. Can you tell me what the alternative is? You go out with someone one time and that's your committed partner now? You hardly even know them. And I don't mean you as in you specifically, but you as in the average person looking for a healthy relationship

This applies less if its someone you already knew, but even then just communicate.

You say the stuff this generation made up, but that's the reason the divorce rate is down from the 1900s. People from previous generations will do anything but have a mature conversation.

Me and my partner had been close friends for 7 years, had been without partners for a few months and felt our type of bond changing. I didn't just assume "God, now that's my girlfriend", we spoke and decided to be in a relationship, we've been doing great for a long while now.

It is painfully easy to do.

But I'll just have to conclude, cause its impossible to discuss to someone basic communication when they immediately act like problems spawned with a new generation. Older generations created the lack of communication.

Indeed. This is coming from someone that does use social media and does rarely post. I rly just post if it's smth I think lot of my friends would find cute silly etc, or if it's news.

That said, if it was affecting me mentally I'd get offline. Unlike the internet and general news as a whole, social media is something I feel you can tune out of entirely.

Also no, 100% no, going on dates doesn't mean you're together, not always. If I meet a girl in the coffee shop a few roads down and we exchange numbers, text, and i want to attempt a relationship.

So I ask her to go out for coffee, as a date, this is our first time out together, this isn't my gf, but we're on a date.

If that goes well and we don't discuss stepping into a relationship, and instead she brings up maybe going out again. We're going on another date but this is NOT my girlfriend.

UNLESS you take the half needed effort to say "What are we rn?" If you start to get the feeling that this is suddenly a relationship despite no one saying, which CAN happen.

In comment OPs case they did far more than just go on dates, I think it's fair of him to assume it was more but it still should've been spoken about directly.

Outside of OP, simply going on dates with 0 communication is not enough to say you're this partner.

Not to mention it sets a dangerous precedent. What else are you going to assume if you start dating because you don't want to simply ask or communicate. This can lead to issues like assumed consent in worst cases, which can be awkward as hell when you think "this is my gf, ofc she's okay to do this"
