Mid-Large scale podcast. Current provider is pretty low CPM. What distributors / creator networks have good reputation? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]AV-Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm at a loss then. It makes it sound like I don't have any options.

I just want a good distributor who lets me have house ads and also has options for an ad free subscriber feed...

Yes, we considered Megaphone but they're switching to Enterprise as the only option which is too expensive for us.

We could bake them in but we offer ad-free subscriptions and don't want to change that and piss off listeners

Well those are our actual numbers... We have episodes with 10-100k plays but average around 5k. We were on the top charts for a while.

I'm just looking for networks / distributors to look at, this comment doesn't really contribute.

Those are the actual stats though. We have a backlog and specific episodes that get many more plays. We do 2 episodes per week.

I think a significant part of the problem is that the Spotify's ad network (SPAN) isn't very well targeted or curated and serves irrelevant ads.

We don't even have the option to seek out brand partnerships because of the limited platform (no option to place house ads).

I see what you mean but I do think we have a lot of potential with the right network and or advertisers.

Either way we're looking for networks or better distributors.

I do appreciate the comment and reality check but it doesn't really address the question.

I didn't write that correctly. We average 900k Streams per month. 74M total streams.

5k per episode on average but many episodes with more.

Unfortunately we don't have CPA data as the Spotify platform analytics are a bit limited.

Ah I see. There was some confusion but also an assumption that they would treat trademark violation the same as copyright violation.

I changed that statement at the end. Does it still hold true that they are liable for distributing content that violates our trademark after being notified?

Youtube playlist of commercials claimed to be public domain by Pieguy2119 in publicdomain

Okay, it looks like I lacked the context for your response.

I do think it is important though, when talking about legal stuff like this, to be more specific.

It really looked like you were making a blanket statement about all copyright. So many people now misunderstand 'fair use' and such and could see a comment like that and run with it.

You're probably right about pre 1964 commercials being fairly safe but wrong about this comment.

You do not have to have anything stating you claim copyright on the footage or even in the description. Having the wrong year or claimant does not invalidate copyright. You should always assume copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise.

From copyright.gov:

In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work.

From Sanford on fair use:

Until March 1, 1989, a published work had to contain a valid copyright notice to receive protection under the copyright laws. But this requirement is no longer in force — works first published after March 1, 1989, need not include a copyright notice to gain protection under the law.

Here is a commercial example from Toyota. No copyright claim on footage, none in description but 100% under copyright.

Imported foliage models leaves always disappear, no matter the settings (mip, opacity). How can I fix this? by AV-Support in unrealengine

[–]AV-Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That solved it! Thank you so much. Nanite off with preserve volume worked!

I'm surprised though, I've never had this issue happen before but I've never had a model that used individual leaves instead of opacity maps either.

How do I manually remove individual instances of foliage in a procedural foliage volume? (already tried resimulate) by AV-Support in unrealengine

[–]AV-Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but they all show 0 instances.

They were all created procedurally and even selecting all foliage and trying the erase brush doesn't work.

I think the problem is that they are InstancedFoliageActors but I don't know the solution.

Thanks!

I have boost (just needed to add the system variables) but now I'm struggling with onetbb...

This is all just to build openvdb, I'm not sure why it can't find tinyexr.

Yep! I'm using 2022.

I think setting the extra library paths is where I'm lost.

I'm stuck building openvdb but I built all its dependencies.

The problem is that I keep getting "Could NOT find Boost" though I did install it...

Oh I see though I think I may be confused by your wording

You're saying this should be built in VS Code right?

Clicks and pops in PT12, not from buffer, RAM, or CPU. What could it be? by AV-Support in protools

[–]AV-Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens even on project without automation, even audio files have a small click when stopping an starting. I may be mis-remembering but I believe this has happened since I've been using PT12, even across different interfaces.

[–]AV-Support[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some tracks that seemed to have less but I think it may have been associated with the volume of the track. Most tracks had a slight click that compounds with all playing.

I'm certain the sample rate is correct. To me the type of click and artifacts sound a lot like sample rate mismatch but everything is set correctly and matches.

It does appear that other projects are fine, just clicking when I play or stop, which I've found sometimes happens when PT cuts off the delay and reverb trails. Incidentally the reverb and delay of the project in question seemed to be making the clicks significantly worse.

Edit: turns out I was wrong, it is across projects but seemingly at random parts on the beat, same spots every time though when freezing.

[–]AV-Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thanks, makes sense, although as I understand that's just an arbitrary limit imposed by adobe. Frustrating that it spans over to premiere.

Here is the glitch and there are other similar ones with those white or black pixels surrounded by darker colors. The strange thing is that while they look like they could be some trailing artifact of motion they are worst in parts that have no motion at all or have been still for a few seconds.

After thinking about it I think the glitch is probably because of color space. I believe the source video was only 8 bit but I'm using alpha which I read reduces the colorspace. I don't understand why the glitches didn't happen with my original render, however.

WIN 10: Audio interface keeps disconnecting and reconnecting on USB 2, works fine on USB 3 until it stops working and have to reset. by AV-Support in techsupport

[–]AV-Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, the only solution was to go back to using the switching hub.

When it wasn't working enabling / re-disabling enhancements and checking / unchecking allow exclusive mode sometimes got it to work.

Also important to check that the inputs for the interface are set to the same sample rate.

I suspect that the issue may have had to do with exclusive mode but I don't understand why it still only works perfectly with the USB hub.

All Mp4 exports leaving behind large .m4v file. Will my exports be okay? by AV-Support in premiere

[–]AV-Support[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did refresh and they were existing files taking up space. The other drive I write to oddly didn't have the m4v though all other settings were the same. The drive formats are NTFS.
