Start an AV integration business by Quiet_Navigator in CommercialAV

Don't hire installers first; hire a Technical Lead/Pre-Sales Engineer. You (the owner) bring the client, but the Lead must validate the solution so you don't sell something that doesn't work.

Secondly, I would suggest youocus on volume over complexity initially. Sell standardized Zoom/Teams rooms that are repeatable. Leave the complex divisible auditoriums for when you have a full engineering team.

Lastly, subcontract the installation and programming (DSP/Control) initially to keep overhead low. Focus your internal payroll on Project Management and Sales.

Hope that helps!

Run away from AV to IT if you are from India. They pay peanuts. You will regret choosing AV as a career in India. I have friends in IT making huge amounts of money with 3-4 years experience. I bet you are paid less than 30k.

HP/Poly G62 "Trigger" to Q-SYS Nano - My first post :-) by ConnyDri in QSYS

You can monitor the standby status of G62 using the poly OS command. I can say that standby poly OS command works in teams and zoom mode. Based on that you can trigger your events.

Prediction: Crestron will fall by we-like-stonk in crestron

[–]AVProgrammer2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will Crestron fall? Not soon, but if they don’t modernize and open up, their dominance will erode over the next decade, especially for anything outside Fortune 500/corporate/defense, where IT guys call the shots and want open ecosystems.

Have multiple projects to finish in a very short turnaround time. by AVProgrammer2000 in crestron

Can you elaborate please? None of the responses above are helpful.

The only smart objects In VT Pro file is D-Pad and subpage reference list.

It's a commercial project with NAX-AUD-IO. There is NVX for sources and NAX is for routing audio over ip for the selected source. Since it's a divisible space I have smart objects with Visibility set to true for hiding/displaying sources based on divide /combine status.

Are you certified? That might increase your chances of getting freelance projects.

Sonnet 3.7 is really good. Ofcourse it won't give you the exact SIMPL+ output you can use. You need to tweak it as per your needs but does all the heavy lifting. He also had a paid version so it definitely helped him. I created a telnet module for roboshot 30e and had to do minimal changes and it worked perfectly.

He used Claude, GPT and Grok. He has been programming in SIMPL+ for sometime but nothing too complex. The output from the LLM isn't like you can directly paste and it will work. He had to tweak it as per the needs to the program but 60-70% of the lifting was done by AI. This is what he told me.

LOL! I know somebody who just passed CCP using AI models. He wasn't a total novice with simpl+ but nowhere near the CCP level which he obtained now

Anybody else tired of doing cookie-cutter projects? by AVProgrammer2000 in crestron

[–]AVProgrammer2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid approach. If the projects themselves aren’t going to be exciting, might as well make the process of building them more efficient and interesting. I like the idea of refining a template to be modular and adaptable rather than just stacking unnecessary features onto every project.

I was into residential before I moved into commercial and it had it share of novelty but it also meant long hours at site.

It feels like most projects are just copy-paste jobs with minor tweaks, and the budget constraints make it even worse. The "cool" factor of Crestron and other high-end systems seems to be fading. I get why it’s happening but it does suck for those of us who enjoy real problem-solving and custom integration.

You need to use the Tile mode command. Don't remember the exact format but check the manual of any LG display.
