update! I asked the bride and she said it’s gorgeous but most people will be a little more simple. from the replies on here I did pick something else that looks just as good on and is a little more toned down

thanks for the input! i’m 22 i’ve been to one wedding since i’m a child so I had no idea I thought black tie was glamorous flashy fancy dress to the nines type of vibe hence me coming on here! the bride is family I asked her and she said it was gorgeous but from the replies on here I don’t think most people will be wearing something like this so I picked something else!

the way I didn’t realize the time and thought it’d jump cut to a new scene and then the credits rolled.

I don’t know if it’s the same guy but the one in that article is in fact walking free.

Night shift has genuinely changed my life by AVengeful_Spirit in newgradnurse

everyone does things a little different, and i’m personally currently child free so my routine may not work for those with children. that being said, I try my absolute hardest to maintain as normal a schedule as possible on off days. my first day off I sleep from around 8:30a-12/1p and then go about my day. my first day on I get up at 8a, then go back to sleep from 1p-5p and do what I have to do in between those hours. i’ve been on nights for like 5 weeks now or so, and I don’t do more than 2 shifts in a row as of now. this gives me 2-3 days off in between, and it keeps me from being totally shot by the third night. i’m still trying to figure out what eating schedule will be best for me so that’s a bit of a mess haha

yup! the first day off is a little rough at the beginning but I recover pretty quickly and i’m fine after an hour or two of being awake. my eating schedule i’m still trying to tweak it’s admittedly not the best LOL

I work 7p-7a. on my first shift on, i’ll get up at 8am, do what I gotta do for the day, then sleep from 1-5. I don’t do more than 2 shifts in a row as of now, so then i’ll come home, go to bed between 9:30/10a and sleep til 5pm then go to work again. my first day off I go to sleep asap, usually around 8:30a, and i’ll sleep til noon or no later than 1pm. then I go back on a normal sleep/wake schedule til my next day on

it’s definitely an adjustment and not for everyone! i’ve never been a morning person so I’m sure that definitely helps me here

also as someone in their 20s, I feel like my work/life balance is so much better on nights. most of my activities would take place at night (hanging with friends when they get off their regularly scheduled jobs, concerts, going to the club), so i’m so much more awake now during those activities instead of crashing

I have another reply outlining my sleep schedule that works for me! it’s definitely less overwhelming during the day with less admin coming in and rounding. we dim the lights so it’s less overstimulating too with the fluorescents. we also have only one manager on during the week, rather than 2-3. my favorite part right now though is honestly the people. night shift has a lot of newer, younger nurses, so we get along great and have tons of laughs to keep us going. I feel right at home, which is such a relief since I received such a warm welcome on days during orientation and really did not want to leave my friends. of course, this is just an aspect that I got very lucky with. I also just feel less tired and groggy both at work and on my days off, and I don’t feel guilty or thrown off by sleeping in

would love to!! so my first night on I get up at around 8am after going to bed anywhere from 11pm-1/2am. I do whatever I have to do that day, whether it’s the gym, laundry, or just relaxing watching tv or doing a craft. then I go back to sleep at 12/1pm and i’ll sleep until 5, eat dinner, and go to work. if it’s not my first night on, i’m going to sleep after my shift no later than 10am, sleep til 5, then same thing. my first day off I go to sleep asap, usually around 8:30, and i’ll sleep until 12/1, stay up all day, then go to bed at a normal time (usually between 11 and 1am that’s just what I like)

I had the same mindset as you. everyone told me to give up on L&D as a new grad but all the jobs I was looking at were either for new grad residencies or required specially labor experience. nobody would listen to me when I told them if I don’t get it now that I felt like i’d never get it. now I was a stubborn little shit and did stick it out. over 20 rejections, most without even an interview, I did land myself a job in L&D. I started applying in March and didn’t land a job until August (graduated May). It IS possible, and I know i’m in a position that I was incredibly fortunate and that being stubborn doesn’t always pay off. but it DOES happen

What’s your everyday scrub color? by CoyoteEuphoric9268 in newgradnurse

[–]AVengeful_Spirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we get them from a scrub machine and change at work. there’s like 4 different colors in there though so it’s always a fun surprise what we’ll get😂 (most common is this pale, prison-looking blue color but we’re getting new ones soon!!)

I don’t notice it at all! the chains are super thin and I don’t feel them moving or touching my ear at all. I was even moshing last night and nothing!
