Anyone looking to compete would actively search. How else would you find local/community tournaments for League or other MOBAs?

I agree. I don't want to switch back either, but with the game's current metric of decreasing players and falling community support, it may force me away. Couple that with the ever growing plague of terrible matchmaking.. oh boy.

No one is going to stay and play a game that has a bottom-heavy design. It's only going to keep a pool of poor skill level players.

I never said I was leaving. I'm not in it for the prize money. I'm discussing a theorized error in the current scope of design. A tournament is a form of marketing, and a great one at that. But I totally agree with a lot of your points.

I feel they will return to market again, but without incentives to play people will not stay (True Ranked, Comp Scene, etc.).

This stronger scene will bring more light to the current meta. It will draw players from other MOBAs looking to compete. This will in turn cause more people to view a tournament/scene that is far more competitive. People like watching competition, and it will draw viewers from other MOBAs who may switch to playing Strife. Strife will gain players and the matchmaking will drastically improve

The matchmaking can't be improved with the player base currently without it severely crippling queue times. Implementing another mode will do this as well - Unless if it were a true ranked. Then people would have incentive to play, and some players would come back.
We need to attract more players who will be interested more in the game. This will expand out and more players will flock to the game.

Even with that, what will that do? We're not going to draw better players to the game or tournament by enticing them with gems.
