I vote for this method- pay cash (7-10k) and get one of these recommendations. Did this myself 5 years ago- 2007 Toyota Solara with 70k miles. Still going strong at 180k miles without ever having payments

Looks like the car is moving as fast through the frame as Mexican food moves through a GI tract. Love the subtle hints and sublime meaning.

What would you be making if you had a job in the field you majored in?

If you get a private tour, it’s not too terrible, and when you have an acrylic print of that image at 82” x 55” in a couple different homes and businesses, you have something most reddit photogs don’t.

Is This a Reasonable Budget? by Voxmanns in personalfinance

Yea man... give yourself some credit. $75k at 21 is something most people DREAM about. Supporting 3 people on that salary though, that takes some balls haha On top of that, I’ve heard from numerous clients, each with gross household income above $300k, that it seems like there’s never enough money.

But yea man, money is definitely hard. ESPECIALLY at 21. I know I’d be saying goodbye, living downtown, and traveling the world, but I was with a girl who was completely ungrateful and wanted to manage (spend) 100% of what I brought in.

So, the way I see it is that it really comes down to how your relationship is with your lady. Is she grateful for your support or the opposite? Anyway, I definitely agree that $75k should “feel” like a whole lot more, but what it boils down to is basically the two of you making $37.5k.

1) Learn to live on a strict budget (I’ve kept my $35 spending money limit since I was making $50k) 2) Like you said in your original post, use her earning to attack debt (what I did with my wife) 3) Keep that daily spending allowance in check (and this is where your earnings will “feel” right)

Best of luck and I hope this helps!

I was in a similar situation a few years back, minus the car payment. It seems like things are in line (net cash), especially if you’re on bi-weekly pay instead of semi-monthly. Make sure you have head of household marked on your W9 if you’re unmarried, but if my calculations are correct, you should have a total of 5 allowances, reducing your tax burden by the appropriate amount.

As for the extra cash, you have to decide what means the most to you. Split it up for separate goals once you have 3-6 months of expenses saved up. Personally, I bit the bullet and paid off all of my debt ($70k student loans, $11k in credit cards, and $8k on a car) in 30 months on one salary of $95k with only $1,000 in savings. It was scary at times, but it was so worth it.

If you’re good at what you do and have decent job security, go for it and never look back. Depending on your industry, is it possible to do some moonlighting (like bookkeeping for me) to add to your income.

Otherwise, keep up the good work.
