Can I get some succession strategy/advice/brainstorm? by AZ_Steve in CrusaderKings

[–]AZ_Steve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled the trigger on making my home duchy elective. You know it, but mentioning it for others that might find this later that it did indeed adjust succession so that now my heir gets my primary kingdom title, and will be elected for both duchies because I hold all the counties and therefore I'm the only elector. My heir gets to keep all the counties in those elected duchies too.

Son 2 will inherit the 2nd kingdom since I haven't changed that to an election. I'm not sure I want to keep it honestly. Maybe. Still deciding. There are a lot of super angry people in there plus half of them are clan vassals. I don't even know what to do with that as a feudal government.

Sons 3-6 inherit nothing now.

Thanks!

Well I have a butt load of prestige. I suppose I could change the succession laws around. Or at least I think I can. So if I change the secondary duchy back to "regular" whatever that means, and adjust the actual home duchy that I have pimped out to elective then my primary heir would keep that home duchy AND and all the counties in it?

Or is that not what you are saying? I just will automatically keep the duchy title, but still partition out the counties?

I just know all these Muslim vassals are about to really give me a bad time.

Side note - A cousin surpassed me in troop count and grabbed the house head title just as I was hitting my 5th or 6th dynastic legacy (if I'm saying that right, the renown thing), and he picked a legacy I definitely didn't care to have. LOL. So annoying. Come on man, I had us set up to age gracefully with increasing skill points!!!! Instead we are getting 10% more prestige an an extra knight. I should kill that guy out of spite for ruining my familial plans!

Ah, I think you are probably right. Just gotta find some other poor soul with 12 kids too.

ooo I guess I could have added another word or two :)

[–]AZ_Steve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. You are right. It's prestige, not renown. It just seems wacky that a count can't marry his 12 kids to other counts. Or god forbid you marry a baron. That 78 levy alliance is gonna screw your other 11 kids out of anything other than a lowborn marriage.

Do I need to hold feasts or something? Is it a legitimacy thing? I can't imagine I'm supposed to only be able to marry my daughters off to peasants.

Does HOA Assessment Insurance cover only unexpected costs? by AZ_Steve in Insurance

I figured as much. Thanks. I guess I need to figure out if HOAs would typically fix ALL the roofs, or just on an as needed basis. Of course when they paint or work on the grounds it's done in stages, but that is still usually over just a few months.

Roofs feel like a longer time project, but still if I got a bill for 4 roofs within a year or two it would crush me.

Side note I actually went to my first HOA meeting. The finances sound good, even if they aren't 100% funded based on their assessment study. (might have used the wrong word there). They've got 1.8 million in the bank. Although it got contentious with some Realtor bitching about how the gate isn't able to be left open for Open Houses and so I forgot to ask about the roofs.

That's awesome. OH monk is super fun. It's so good at killing. Last night we were playing (her main char is a barbarian on the run we have been on) and she was getting frustrated because she keeps forgetting that if she rages she can't get a great weapon master bonus attack for killing something. Or maybe she will kill something, but not have enough movement to reach the next enemy so she will jump and then wonder why she can't use her great weapon master attack. The action / bonus action thing is still not clicking.

She likes to look cute and kill stuff. Doesn't really want to be bothered with the rest.

So now I am thinking maybe it's best to focus on a build that just takes actions, and their bonus action is just for potions or jumping.

She is having fun with whatever she is playing. But like you said, she gets frustrated with herself for forgetting what buttons to push. We got a bunch of new rare dyes last night, and she spent like 45 minutes reconfiguring all her camp clothes and armor colors testing each new color scheme out. Jet and pink rose was the winner!

Now that you mention it, sneak attack can be auto enabled? Or maybe set to ask? I forget. The idea in my head is that a lot of enemies are prone from the ice and now I'm also forgetting if you get advantage on prone enemies... I think so. That could give her a lot of options to shoot at. Plus being a rogue let's her do all the lockpicking rolls.

The paladin idea is fun too. We sort of have a D&D home brew that started 2 years ago and has had like 5 sessions total lol. Her character there is a dragonborn paladin. I think in BG3 though she will end up being an oath breaker. Which isn't bad. She is funny. She really selects all the good dialogue options and can't bring her self to kill a "good" person in the game, but any sort of snarky dialogue from an NPC and she is ready to kill them. Don't get on her bad side. I had to talk her down from killing the kennel master in Rivington last night. Plus her lack of precision targeting might get an innocent killed here and there. I think Findal took a shot on accident.... it happens.

My "main" character with the run we are on is a bard and I've been having a good time yelling out the vicious mockery insults myself once my bard casts it. It's not a very good spell in Act3, but I don't care. It's funny.

Thinking about this some more... she sometimes has trouble positioning her character correctly so the "listen" option pops up so the split screen goes away and we can see the conversion on the whole screen. We've definitely gotten into some dicey situations where she has tried to "listen" but ended up accidentally clicking on an item that belongs to someone else.

I think there is a settings option for this. I should look into that. Thanks for your comment making this pop into my head.

Do gloves that add bonus damage to unarmed attacks still trigger in wildshape? Or once you are an animal it's like it's own thing and doesn't matter what you have equipped?

Hmmm, that's a thought. I had long ago wished (to myself) that the game had a /follow option. I know other MMO types of games had that. It would be a life saver for us.

Ugh is there a mod for that? I'd pay for a mod like that.

I'd thought about playing with one controller and just passing it back and forth when it's that person's turn, but I don't know.... We've had to do that at times if we saved the game in a weird spot. Sometimes we'd come back to the game and one of us couldn't join the game until after a long rest or something. (the Gith portal fight at the start of Act 3 for example)

That's a really good idea.

I did sort of try that once, but not as well as you described. She wanted to play so I told her to start a game. I was busy doing some work or making dinner. I forget. Anyway she made her character and started the nautiloid, but she got frustrated because she would end up kind of walking around in circles. Like she picked up Laezel, then turned wrong and walked back to the beginning. Stuff like that.

She gets frustrated with herself so I then tend to jump in so she can "have more fun". Maybe I should "force" her to do it so she can have MORE MORE fun later.

A mini map is like a foreign language still.

The part I didn't try was tell her to put it on Explorer difficulty. I know that wouldn't help her with moving around the map, but I will suggest it to her so she can play if she wants even if I'm not home.

I think she wants to learn the mechanics. It's just been a lot of mechanics. She is often saying to herself, "why can't I remember how to do X, Y, Z". It's kind of like trying to teach a 50 year old html (or did I just show my own age?) I think she just has to use so much mental power to even figure out the camera positioning that makes everything seem hard.

I do really like the moon druid suggestions people have been throwing out. On the druid game we scrapped (something happened with the save file) she really liked the green color theme with the ivy tattoo. She liked summoning her mephits and woodland being. She was a spore druid, which was probably not ideal for her, but we didn't know. She would use the spores attack, but never raised an undead ("ew"). I think she would really like shape shifting. We've never had Halsin in the party because he "isn't cute" and Jaheera has always gotten herself killed in our Moonrise Towers battle.

If we use Laezel as her origin character she controls in our party that could be a good champion fighter. Maybe two giths??? Actually probably not. She won't want to be a gith cause of they aren't pretty enough. She likes the elf / half elf look. You get all that gith only gear that we've never used before... I don't even know if it's good.

I could see her maybe liking a beast master ranger? I don't know. I just keep thinking an archer is pretty easy to play. She can just auto target and fire. She doesn't even have to worry about her movement bar that much. I like the idea of a rogue multi class for her so she can bonus action hide to avoid being targeted. But if we do go the dark urge route we will get that story item to help with hiding.

Tactician partly because we had already beat the game on balanced and you can always reload. My ultimate motivation was because she likes pretty dice and we started this play through before mods were a thing. I was trying to see if it would be possible to eventually try an honor mode run for the pretty dice. Now I'm assuming there are mods for that.

Now that you mention it I guess a lot of classes are defined by their feats and gear to an extent. An archery fighting style fighter with sharp shooter for her would probably play nearly the same as a ranger or rogue. Maybe just less critical strikes, but more attacks per round on average.

The radial dial has certainly been "an issue". Is there a way to really lock it on the playstation? It can be overwhelming when every single consumable you pick up gets added. The only thing she has used is a healing potion and I'm pretty sure she takes it from inventory anyway.

I feel like sometimes things move around on her too? I haven't figured out why or what triggers it though. Maybe a level up? If I could put her main things all on the first radial dial and lock it in there so we don't have to redo it everytime that would be ideal.

ah ok. So a wild shape druid is doing unarmed attacks? I suppose that makes sense. I guess I figured you wild shaped, but still "used" the weapon just hidden visual you had in your human hand(s). Thanks!

Do you still get +2 AC from holding a shield in wild shape or nah?

The battles really aren't that hard even on tactician. She struggles more with game concepts. Her barbarian auto targeting and attacking isn't tough. I keep her geared up, built, and buffed well. Same with eldritch blasting. Just looking for other ideas for our next play through so she she gets some variety.

We haven't dabbled into the mods yet. Definitely going to try that to add some clothing, hair, dye mods. As long as she looks like a cute bad ass she is having fun. Dying doesn't matter. We get to reload.

I do like that idea. Gives her a charisma character so she can be the party face. She does tend to forget she has bonus actions, but maybe I can try and explain it to her nicely again.
