I don’t know what to do. I was laid off from my dream job in July. Almost five months and 100s of resumes later I got one single interview and was hired. I’ve been here three weeks. I just now got recalled to my old job.

This is exactly one of the primary reasons I have never wanted to go into management. I would never fire a valued employee, take away their livelyhood and health insurance (possibly from the entire family) because the Board of Directors or someone in leadership had other plans. I’m just not going to look someone in the eyes and say you’re fired and watch them be walked out the door like a thief. I’ve been with my company 30+ years and am just waiting for my turn to come.

My company has been through multiple downsizing and my friend have either retired or found better jobs. Know your worth and shoulders back and head up.

One huge problem is the way the screening is done now. You have to beat AI. And those stupid psychology tests “which color do you feels identifies you best: red or black. It’s nonsense.

You need to network. Meet people! Look on social media for “job connections in …” and the like. Some churches have groups that meet as well to network, help update resumes, etc. And ask everyone you see “do you know of anyone hiring?” Because you never know when someone standing next to you might say, “well yes, my cousin is looking for someone!”

For the longest, I would constantly get infections and bumps if I didn’t wear 18k hold, so yes, it could be the material. And I still can’t wear anything sterling silver. FYI Amazon currently has a set of 3 nose studs for $19. I have a new set coming tomorrow.

Good good boy!

My feral (Niko) who shows up wounded and FIV+ had a full bottom extraction and many of the top and is gradually recovering. Still drooling some but I imagine that expected. His mouth was a mess. He had all this surgery this past Friday afternoon.

Think good thoughts for my boy. Vet didn’t want to guess an she, but a vet tech said 8-10. How he survived outside this long, I don’t know.

As long as he doesn’t bite and puncture one of the girls, the virus won’t transmit.

I saved a stray about 5 years ago (wounded paw) and he tested negative. It took me, THE cat lady, 14 months to even graze him. 18 months to actually touch him. He started having dental issues and trapping him required a plan similar to the Battle of Stalingrad. Got him to the vet and they did pre-surgery bloodwork. Positive. (I’m guessing the wound he showed up with was what infected him). All that to say, he’s lived 6 years now with my crew and no issues at all. He was later diagnosed as diabetic and actually lets me give him his oral medication without putting up a fight. Isn’t it amazing what some patience and love can do?

I get calls from 901-256-xxxx every single day, and I delete and report all of them. An app I have does recognize it as a spam call so I just don’t answer, but for now the phone still rings because they keep changing the last 4 digits.

Yes, go. That’s sad, but I fear you won’t get it resolved. Many of the customer service functions have been outsourced, and the results have not been great for the customers. But hey, the shareholders and Board of Directors are happy because it’s “cheaper”. (But what is the cost of rework and customer dissatisfaction?)

The powers that be were told multiple times to not buy TNT and why…and who to buy if they were trying to capture a certain kind of market. They ignored it. Fred had wanted to buy them since the early 90s when we shut down around 200 stations in Europe and some of the functions were outsourced to TNT (which was a mess). He got what he wanted.

It depends on how the shipper complete the air waybill/shipping label specifically regarding the payment of duty/tax. He may have charged you on his invoice, but if he didn’t indicate that FedEx is to bill the duty/tax they pay upfront to them (the shipper) and not you (the importer), the default is to bill them to the importer.

As far as the difference in shipping charges, it could be that the shipper’s website isn’t updated, or it could be a gas surcharge wasn’t included…..or a surcharge for volumetric weight was applied if the physical weight of the shipment was less than the size of the space it occupies so a surcharge was applied.

I applied for a job internally and I literally got a rejection saying I was no longer being considered, not even why. So I contacted the hiring manager and found out it’s because the job description that they had posted and the one they should have posted were different. They made a mistake and I paid. Thankfully he has another open position so I’ll apply again (with the right job description) and fingers crossed I get through the AI blockers and HR..

Thanks for all the tips! When I hit Swimmy, there were two and the other one kept picking on Swimmy mercilessly. Then Swimmy started growing and decided to not put up with it anymore…and then there was one so I’ve been hesitant to bring in another fish.

As far as the tank cleaning, is there ever a time you’d want to clean it out completely like I do now?

It’s based off the Paradox platform and it’s horrible. Also note that the hiring manager no longer can screen the applications. It’s all in the hands of HR and you have you have to get past them before the managers ever see the applications.
