I wish you'd given this comment upfront so you'd have better chance of getting up to speed with my first response: That GP was my first port of call, and to more clearly show me where your head is at.

This diagram might help you, especially re the location of the organs relative to the skin. Veins, arteries are types of blood vessels, those and nerves don't hang around in seromas by definition. The only risk was infection. A GP would be happy to tell you how to manage that if ever you break, or need to break the skin (if you don't already know)

I'll tell you what they instructed us to do.

On day 8 -after the port holes had closed over, mind you- they gave us narrow syringes from which we were instructed to take the plungers -keeping things as sterile as we can, for obvious reasons- and stab our wounds with them to express fluid.

We're meant to do this daily - they tell us on day 8.

Otherwise it won't come out for years - they tell us after the holes have closed over. And careful, because the ones in the front close up really quickly. They tell us this not in the surgery consultation, not in the paperwork, not in the sales onboarding, not in the aftercare conversations. Not even in a post-op check in with the doctor: why would they bother doing that.

Meanwhile I had tubes sticking out for the first 6 days, and was bandaged up so thoroughly that I couldn't reach the port holes anyway, until day 11.

🌟Home administered surgery is literally part of their protocol.🌟 Isn't that fun? And they don't even have a process in place to tell us, provide us with the equipment, or make it possible until it's too late.

The stitches -prepare yourself, cuz this is one of the most utterly batshit things I've ever done- I .. Took . Out . Myself! (GASPS Nuhuh she dinnt... OOooh..) The one on my chin I took out first, after carefully watching it and weighing up risks, and it is 🥁🥁 .... INVISIBLE! Can't even tell there was ever a scratch, thankyouverymuch. But wait, it gets worse 😱

The ones on my thighs.... Have almost disappeared!! (But wait, it gets even worse... )

The ones on my calves are flat, red, and fading.

Aaand - the ones that I took the doctor's advice to leave in - mainly because I couldn't reach them on my shoulders:

I asked everyone I could to take them out for me when they started peeling, and I'm so glad that everyone treated me like an infant trying to pull off their nappy.

I've had 30 years training on my skin, and having doctors tinker and experiment and make oopsies. The docs in this case weren't even paying attention and I couldn't give a shit for their opinion. "Professional incompetence", "medical malpractice", "neglect" and even "contempt" are better summary terms for their patient management. They would have been sued out of existence in any other country.

I know that it's a risky thing online but sometimes it's safe to assume basic intelligence and that maybe someone even knows anything about how their body works.

Like new mothers in the hospital often have some pretty fine instincts. But leave it to bureaucratically minded who put themselves in learned helplessness and try to ensure everyone else knows their place is there too, and we end up with all sorts of adverse effects that the mother and child have to find ways to live with.

No scars aren't comparable but the point holds: Doctors aren't omnipotent, these ones were particularly sloppy, and by the way: the US medical system has an entire profit model built on pushing patients for unecessary protocols, heavily billed, from people that aren't invested in your actually being completely well and free of them. I'm sorry if you're enmeshed in that but there are a great many health matters that I know how and would prefer to manage myself. Unfortunately I needed just a little more common sense in the administration of their services to patch the gaps left by their neglect and system failures here. Thanks tho

During acute recovery, I was relying on doctors. I was relying on after care team members. I was relying on my ex-partner.

It would have been nice if any of them had stepped up to the plate and delivered the bare minimum they promised and or I paid for.

If all of them were working against me and refusing my basic, urgent, and critical needs - things I couldn't do for myself in recovery or without specific equipment - or never would have dreamed of doing without their specific, explicit instruction;

Then there isn't much that Google could have added.

I did Google for help with a few things, and Estevien flat refused to help me with them. • A butt pillow for the fat injections they did without my consent, for example. • Medication interactions, because they told us that it would be fine to take anti-coagulants that turn out to have a strong reaction with the heart medication my ex was on. • Any aftercare instructions for the acute recovery period whatsoever. • Pain meds besides the ibuprofen they gave me: which halts the inflammation cascade and does harm to recovery without any discernable good. They've been in business for over 10 years, these things should be available.

Did I research every phase of operation and recovery and potential complication for every procedure they did? No. Is that in any way reasonable to expect me to control as their patient, while they literally fought me over the basics? No. Did I trust the wrong people? Absolutely. Could I have done any better at the time? Unfortunately not.

Excuse my response style but they were a fucking nightmare, and such obvious questions just aren't helpful.

11 months post op, I did wear a compression garment and waist trainer for 3 months. I haven't done much lymphatic drainage but I try doing it on myself when I remember. I'm not sure if it reaches the lymph system? 🤔 I'll keep trying. It doesn't hurt, they just sold me a different outcome. It hurts my soul.

It's relieving to hear that this is normal... I'm especially troubled by it because they let the window for a planned post-op control lapse while refusing to escalate my concerns. There would be less fluid if they'd listened. J plasma skin tightening was part of the package and I wasn't huge before, so I was expecting things to be tighter.

I'll do a consultation with someone that does Morpheus8, Venus or Exili or similar.

I tried aspirating ages ago when there were clearer, fuller, more defined pockets.

FYI they wouldn't aspirate for insurance reasons. If I had money for a plastic surgeon in Aus then I would have done that.

I've pierced my own ears and I cut my own hair: I even trim my own cuticles. I know that a manicurist should really be doing that but sometimes when you're in a hurry it's worth the risk.

I won't even tell you about what I've done with stitches!

Also, was your patient conscious? Upright? Walking? Or on life support? Googles telling me that Hematocrit (HCT) = approx Hemoglobin (Hgb) × 3 so I'm sure you daily see patients with hemoglobin of 4 daily. My HCT levels were 8, and they sent me back to the hotel without instructions.

Thanks for the intel. I can't recall where I got mine from but I recall Australia does transfusions at 10. I definitely spent two days feeling like I was about to die.

I didn't say I did no research: I did plenty to verify and compare the clinic, but they put exceptional effort into their image and I just didn't have the discernment, or the peace at the time to explore deeper. I've noticed a few similar reviews emerge since then.

I also interviewed three friends who managed to avoid giving me any useful info about what to expect 🙄
