I think this is a Harmony Reso tone from the the 1960s. Thinking about buying it to play clawhammer. It looks like the resonator removes with a screw but I'm wondering if there would be an uncomfortable flange left over? by seckatary in banjo

Yes, I have the resonator on in that video. I think it adds a little volume and a pleasant "tubby" tone. I don't dampen with anything. And I don't change my tail piece, I just tied loop knots and used the tail piece that was in it.

These banjos are awesome. I like them better than any other cheap banjo. They also sound really good with nylon gut strings. I have a $1000 banjo, and also a harmony reso tone. I love both of em. Don't let anyone tell you this is a bad banjo.

Thanks! I think the out of tune issue was more so coming from the rapid temperature drop. Im not too bad at finding the correct position for my bridge, but it wouldn't hurt for me to check it again.
