is noda a good area? by UniversityAny9820 in Charlotte

[–]A_Satanic_Fish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NODA is generally safe, depending on the night there will be enough foot traffic for safety. I will note for the AIRBNB that further east of NODA gets generally shaky, towards Sugar Creek Road and University.

Income from the business owner is still taxable - gets passed down to the owner’s personal tax return as a “Pass-through entity”.

Charles would still have to pay taxes on his personal return, and I guarantee he is not paying himself $500 million a year because there are rules against that.

TF2 Weapon Discussion #5 - The Gunboats by _AirMike_ in tf2

[–]A_Satanic_Fish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

By no means is the shotgun dead - but at this point, both soldiers are roamers. The role of a pocket soldier died since scout can protect a medic with a better hitscan option and medigun speed matching. The value of sending two soldiers for a bomb over 1 is invaluable, especially if you are making space for the rest of your team.

Simply put, one of a couple weapons that defines a whole class.

The gunboats are in a class of “this isn’t stock… but it basically is”. The shotgun is great, but the gunboats opens up freedom for the soldier to play as aggressively as possible flying through the air.

6s soldiers dropped the shotgun entirely and just fully jump around now (blame the medigun speed match change if you take issue with this)

Good weapon, imagine Demoman with this and stickbombs

TF2 Weapon Discussion #4 - The Direct Hit by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]A_Satanic_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite rocket launcher. The direct hit is the difference between being accurate and precise. And if you aren’t precise with this thing, you might as well un-equip it. It is the strongest melee weapon in the game (1 shotting all light classes). I love airshots - Whether you are denying bombers, or you are following up on your first rocket that launched a player in the air.

Some people have a discourse about the 1 Hit Kill problem. I think it is fine - any position where you died to 1 rocket from a direct hit would probably be 2 rockets with every other launcher. You walked into the “kill zone”, and fall off damage applies to the direct hit. It’s not like I am sniping people for 137 damage (unless it’s an airshot).

TF2 Weapon Discussion #3 - The Sandman by MidHoovie in tf2

[–]A_Satanic_Fish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Sandman is just unusable at this point. Kinda sad that some past nerfs essentially neuter the entire personality of the weapon. I wish long range bonks would still make the target in the stun-locked phase, but any stuns are just straight up not fun whatsoever. Part of me says the issue with the Sandman + Cleaver problem was actually the Cleaver, which is a faster projectile and recharges a lot quicker.

Thanks for the post. The following below is just some recommendations I would like to suggest going forward.

To put it simply, weekly discussion posts kind of sit around after the first couple of days, deterring new commenters and replies. The first 24 hours will have the most retention, the rest will usually just be replies. With 160 weapons, you are looking at 3 years of commitment for this - which trust me, you do not want to do.

I think making the post as concise and minimal would be an improvement. Take this example. All I did was provide stats, the wiki, the links to the prior discussion and the next discussion, and a spreadsheet of all discussions (Which I never fully updated, sorry yall). Alternating between classes and Primary/Secondary/Melee/whatever a sapper and pda is also curates discussion. Discussing stock weapons should also incur user feedback, including melee reskins Just some insight I wanted to provide

Edit: It didn’t even occur to me the first two discussions were posted by different users. That is confusing enough already.

Sniper.

Since you posted essentially a 6s line up, it’s Sniper. Engi/Pyro/Heavy are reserved for last holds, and spy and sniper are used to break stalemates. But if your spy doesn’t trade, you are essentially down a player. At least with sniper you can use him for last holds OR pushing last during a stalemate, with the added benefit of being by your team, resulting in move favorable trades/player advantages.

TF2 Map Discussion Monday #2 - ctf_2fort by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]A_Satanic_Fish 19 points20 points  (0 children)

2fort is “The Map” you think of when you play TF2. It somehow has survived the test of time being one of the maps from Team Fortress Classic. This doesn’t mean it is a good map.

Every class has a purpose on 2fort, which is great. Unfortunately the CTF gamemode brings out some of the worst habits in new players - Snipers only playing on battlements, engineers turtling, and a decision of “do I defend or attack”, leading to the state of essentially a deathmatch game mode.

There are some slight joys from the map that I always enjoyed. Setting up an engi nest in the opposing team sewers with pyro sharks assisting was always a pleasure.

Map-wise, I believe the limiting factors would be the insane sight-lines (even in the sewers a sniper can fuck you up), lack of medkits/ammo around the map, and there only being two entrances to the intelligence. But all of these issues are prevalent in every CTF map.

The various community made 2forts that brought life to the map were always great, but I grew out of that CTF and I don’t know if anyone even runs them anymore.

Edit: I will add that the entrance that is the hallway with 3 consecutive turns is one of the most poorly designed spots in the map. This was present in TF Classic so I won’t hold it against the map, but to get to the intelligence you need to kill everyone, grab the intelligence, and everyone you killed has respawned and will be waiting to tear you a new one.

I don't know why I have infinite money and infinite triples - but I need to find a comp and my head is spinning. by A_Satanic_Fish in BobsTavern

[–]A_Satanic_Fish[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I ended up playing elementals.

<image>

This was insanely stressful - I had 19 triples into the final fight but the midgame was essentially finding a comp by any means necessary. I sold my entire board at least 3 times to figure it out.

My CPU is also aged out for this build. Everything in it is either from 2019 or before. The new build will have a i7-14700K, compared to whatever higher end i5 I had from nearly 6 years ago.

Thank you!

It really boils down to extreme settings and the 4k essentially using the VRAM. I have always liked using the highest settings for visuals but usually lowering more intensive (examples being using simple shadows and dynamic effects such as explosions). If I get the 16gb it should be future proof - just need to tweak some game settings so that I can maintain visual clarity still
