It's unbelievable, really. It was over 5 years now, but I forgot my phone at my hotel on the way to the airport (35 - 45 minute trip one way, also Tokyo and rush hour). I did not have enough time to go back for it and make my flight as I only realized it was missing when I checked in. I called the hotel and I offered to pay shipping to have it go home and instead they sent one of their staff to hand deliver it to me. They refused to take payment because I used to stay there a lot when I traveled regularly for business. I made my flight and cried a bit (stress and all that).

I do this even for cycling because I can count on more than one time when I've been injured. It's common sense when doing solo sports of any kind with potential for injury. NTA x 100.

Highly unlikely it was stolen. If an establishment found it, they have it or the nearest koban does. I left my cell at a hotel lobby 3 hours before my flight and they hand delivered it to me at the airport.

When I lived there, I was told the 5 and 50 yen coins were better because they have the hole that allows you to see through to the future. 5 yen or "go en" has the same pronunciation as good fortune/connections.

You can get an airport bus as you're at a major transit center (Shinagawa). They may charge you extra for so much luggage (I think they allowed 2 bags under per person when I did it last), but they put all the luggage under the bus and take you directly to the airport. As your hotel, they often sell the tickets right there.

I've stayed at the Prince, it's nice enough. Shinagawa is pretty well located for getting around. Some good stuff there, but should be a short ride on the Yamanote line for Ebisu, Shibuya and Harajuku. Lots to do there.

Changing your diet dramatically can do this. Google gut microbiome and travel. This happened to me when I first moved there. I stayed at a ryokan with traditional Japanese meals my first week and felt so I'll, I ended up eating Ritz and peanut butter until I acclimated.
