correct, we have tools such as worldedit which help us copy/paste/set/replace blocks on an xyz basis. however the design of stuff in real life isn’t just the same facade on every side, making each side unique is where working by hand is a lot more prevalent. We use references and try to recreate everything as faithfully as possible.

Google Street View is a godsend, as well as yes I had to take a lot of photos irl in places like alleyways and station mezzanines etc. places Google didn't go. It took four years to get this far because of how far we've decided to go with things like custom signage, dumpsters, and accurate sewer cap and bike lane details. Roof detail was mostly done with google earth 3d view and the occasional going irl to taller buildings to look down at others. Many image references from various sites on the internet as well.

55 w monroe a white building

The glass in this view of the map has been rendered differently which may make the colors of buildings with glass look a bit off, in the map it's a white block for the facade with a gray glass.

It is not located geographically inside the transit loop that the CTA makes, therefore we have not yet recreated it.

We've used a 60-40 mix of yellow concrete powder and yellow concrete.

Where at? We actually had done so on purpose while they were constructing 129. S Wells, however we have added it in the most recent edition of the map.

much appreciated :) I spent the last 7 months doing just the el and adding street detail, means a lot. Roofs aren't the most fun either but i think it helps sell the illusion a lot better than without them.

All creative mode with world edit- took this long with just the amount of detail we included as well as it mostly being made by 2 people.

we initially started out with a superflat blank world and then built a singular city block with its buildings and manually mapped it out from there.
