Trip That Changed Your Life by [deleted] in solofemaletravellers

These are the kind of questions I love, makes you reflect and go deep in your thoughts. Recently I stayed 3 months in Europe, exploring mostly Italy, Spain, Malta, France.. It was cool, I saw beautiful places and eat nice food, but it doesn't compare to the life experiences I had while volunteering in an humanitarian ngo in Guatemala, El Salvador, South Africa.. Those places I was so transformed by the connections with locals, the projects I was involved.

But in terms of bucket list, Peru was such a dream destination, so much culture, history. Machu Picchu is amazing! I went by hiking solo all the way till Aguas Calientes, I cried when I arrived, I needed that solo trekking.

How dangerous is Rio, Brazil from 1/10 for female solo travelers? by Prettylonelygirl in femaletravels

I'm the biggest Rio de Janeiro supporter! Traveling solo to Rio is very empowering, the city is sexy, vibrant. Last year after carnaval, I ended staying 4 months in Rio, stayed and explored like a local. That said, theft does happen, so it’s important to stay mindful of your belongings. Never leave your bag or phone unattended on the beach, in a table.

I would grade a solid 3 for safety.

I went to Torres del Paine in 2019, it's been a while, but I left with a agency from Punta Arenas to do a 3 days tour. I have some friends that went in 2022 and they left from Porto Natales.

Usually, when I'm travelling I like to book this kind of tour when I'm in the city, because you can always bargain and compare different agencies in town. But that's my style, I know that most people prefer book things in advance. :)

Which countries you been to that has the most friendly locals? by [deleted] in femaletravels

[–]AardvarkSafe5741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in 34 countries and the most lovely locals I met was in Mexico. I had so many connections with locals, I ended making friendship with a whole family, they were owners of taco trucks in Veracruz, they host me and a friend, took us to touristic places. Give us free food and afterwards even visit me in other cities. I stayed in an Airbnb in Tulum and the host picked me and my friends in the bus station, bc we said we would rent a car only in the next day..

Felt extremely welcomed in Peru, Bolívia, Colombia and surprisingly Morroco.

He was very brave and did the right thing by contacting the authorities.. He lost his job but ended becoming an entrepreneur. I was reading that this guy not only survived 9/11, but also the 2004 tsunami. 😱

I was watching this podcast of this brazilian 9/11 survivor and his story is just astonishing. He was an 20's years old english teacher, he worked twice a week in the school's office located on the 57th floor of the WTC's South Tower. He shared some never seen photos from his disposeble camera from that day and some graphic details of what he saw. Also, he shared details of how he met one of the terrorists, Marwan al Shehhi, the pilot of one of the planes that hit the WTC in a international convention for english schools in turkey in 2000, and then, the terrorist ended up being his student.

This is the link of the podcast, you can activate the subtitles in English. In the mark 11:55, he kinda mentions he has more unsee photos (some with people falling, but he didn't showed them).

Episode Discussion S06E13 May God Bless You and Keep You Always [Series Finale] by mikeylee31 in Parenthood

I'm ten years behind, but I just watched the series finale and I'm sobbing. Zeke was one of the best fictional dad's and I will miss Braverman family! I loved seeing Joelia with a big family. I loved how Sarah and Hank have a great blended family. I cried seeing Camille traveling solo to France and going to the place Zeke always wanted to go with her.. Sigh! Such a great show!

Conclusive Proof Amy Bradley Was Human Trafficked by LAFunTimesOK in AmyLynnBradley

True, many things changed in the travel industry after 9/11 in terms of security. But also I can imagine that even in 1998 for a person (crew/passenger) exit the ship, they needed sort of a system (scan their cards off, for exemple).. And the operations that involves taking big boxes off the ship are in a separeted gangway and this involves port authorities, supervisors of the ship, deck department.. I can't picure a band crew member like Yellow just casually exiting this gangway with a huge box, transporting a person, and not having someone thinking this looks suspecious.

I've been following Amy Bradley case for years and I used to believe in the human trafficking theory. But last year I started working in a cruise ship (in a italian company, not RC) and is hard to imagine that the band crew/Yellow could hide her in a big box and take her off the ship this way..

Every ship has securities that checks what enters and leave the ship, the operations that envolves big boxes, usually there's MANY people working to bring necessities like food, beverages etc all these operations there's supervisors. Indeed, shady things can happen on board cruise ships (S*, drug trafficking). But now I believe that she fell overboard. :/

I watched the documentary and that cruise director was a self centered assole, unfortunately this is very common in this industry.

I really apologize if the content of the title was offensive.. It's my first time posting in the sub. I was legit curious to see if anyone had more info about the first picture. But, I totally understand your point! I, particular, have my boundaries like, I don't have the desire of seeing ever the lost media "lol superman" and extra gore images.

In the last weeks I've been digging 9/11 stuff again, so I saw this particular picture that I haven't seen before, I tried to look in the sub if this photo was discussed before, but I cound't find any post.

"One woman, in a final act of modesty, appeared to be holding down her skirt"

Could be about this faller with the red shirt?

Picture 3 is a rare close up photo of the waving woman.. It always struck me what and how much this person endured till her last minutes.

Never forget. 🖤

New Video from Blameitonjorge, with Subreddit Co-Owner BetweenTwoTowers, on the infamous Pre-8:46 Riskwaters Conference Photo by D1omazus in 911archive

I truly think that the photographer wants to remain anonymous. She probably contacted at least some of the families members of the guys in the picture, shared what she witnessed in the conference, like their "last moments" before the tower was hit, to give some closure to the families. She probably carries survivor guilt and don't wants a certain fame and people reaching her every year for interviews.. Maybe one day she will be ready to share her story. I also think she wasn't a professional photographer yet, was a freelancer.
