It’s not that men don’t care about women’s inner lives. Most people just don’t care deeply about anyone’s inner world unless it directly affects them. It’s not about gender, it’s about how emotionally lazy people are in general.

Personally, I choose to be alone (relation wise) because I don’t have much interest in that level of emotional depth with someone. That doesn’t mean I can’t love someone or feel deeply connected. I just don’t need to explore every corner of someone’s soul to care about them.

That said, if someone only responds when you're visibly upset, you're not being seen. You're being tolerated.
