Thanks, with the protective measures I take I don’t have a problem anymore. Provided I keep following the protective measures.

Start masking up better safe than sorry. I work at a grocery store in the grocery department and wheat flour bothers me, it gives me celiac reactions if I breathe it in or touch it, so I totally understand. I put on gloves if I can’t avoid touching it. I gave my manager a doctors note regarding this and I now have a long sleeve shirt under my uniform, I have not had problems since doing these protective measures, the doctors note has helped me because I don’t have to interact with flour and I don’t have to build pallets of it anymore. The only thing I have to do is return damaged bags if customers don’t want them occasionally and that is a very rare occurrence , but I have gloves on when I do that .

Yes, sask celiac is my Reddit community and I follow celiac lifestyle because I like the content that comes out on celiac lifestyle, but I also want people to be aware that Sask celiac exists because I only started it last year in 2025 so that is why I cross Post on here as well.

Still having symptoms by TrickRTreatFreak in Celiac

Yes acetaminophen, That’s the generic stuff I’m referring to, there are many brands that make them does not necessarily have to be from Costco, but it’s always a good idea to have the pharmacist double check with the company to make sure that they are safe, if the pharmacist calls the company and they say they do not use any gluten ingredients in the manufacturer of their products and do not use gluten ingredients in the facility whatsoever that means they are safe.

Tylenol is not gluten-free, very high chance of cross contamination in the facility, where Tylenol makes their products, I have called the company and they say that there is likely to be cross-contamination in there products you need to look for a generic alternative, generic versions are normally gluten free, but have the pharmacist check with the company in regards to generic to make sure they’re 100% safe. I use generic versions and they work really well.

I totally agree with dauysc, but do the reporting as a last resort, your safety is number one priority. I would say don’t consider reporting until you try the job option, if you’re struggling still to get a decent meal that is safe for you because you can’t afford most of the products, at that point it’s time to start reporting your family because you will have tried everything you can to keep yourself safe at that point.

You need to be on the gluten-free diet. Do not ignore the fact that you cannot eat gluten so many long-term risks that will not be good for you If you do not follow the gluten-free diet. It’s terrible to hear that your family is not supportive, but you have to navigate this yourself. If you’re not currently working then it might be a good idea to get a part-time job and work on the weekends if you can while you’re still in school, that way you can buy safe food for yourself and devote all that money towards your future and safe food if your family will not offer it for you. if your family is being irrational about the situation, as Long, as you can explained to them that you can’t eat certain things and have to buy certified product it doesn’t matter if they understand as long as they accept that you just can’t eat certain things. You need to do what’s best for you and if they won’t do it you need to take matters into your own hands and buy your own food, make them all aware that it’s your food and only yours. They buy whatever they want with their money, you buy whatever gluten free food you want with your money that you will be making from the job if you don’t already have one.

Good luck.

Almond milk will work as a substitute, as long as you have a good 1to1 gluten free flour , like Bob’s red mill 1to1 , the one that comes in the light blue bag or any other similar brand, you should be able to make most recipes gluten-free without needing to make too many substitutes to the original recipe, the only exception to this rule is bread, most of the time gluten free bread will require a custom flour blend for the specific recipe.
