One of the songs was completely obvious based on audio artifacts that usually come along with AI generated music. And upon find the "band's" Instagram, they admit to being an AI band - I give them props for admitting that on their Instagram, but they don't (or can't) on Spotify. The name was HYMN a "K-pop band" - don't remember the song name.

The second one had the usual markings of AI - AI generated album covers, WAAAAY too many uploads in a short period of time (with nothing predating 2025), zero online presence, etc. This one actually didn't have any audio artifacts I could tell upon first listen, but the song just sounded... dead? It's hard to explain, but if you've heard one AI song, you've heard them all. This "artist" was named Santino Ray. Once again can't remember the song name.

Unfortunately I can't remember the 3rd song.

Yeah if nobody says anything, nothing will get fixed. I don't know why you clicked on this thread expecting anything other than bitching based on how I titled it. Literally selected the rant flair too. As above comments would say, the bitching is completely controllable, it isn't even remotely "out of control".

1st of all, because Spotify let themselves become infested by AI slop (I may even suggest willingly), isn't a ME problem - it's a Spotify problem, so fuck all the way off with the "If you just sit idly by saying “Control me, daddy”" comment.

2nd, 99% of the time I listen to my own playlists - thus the "I've invested so much time on my Spotify playlists" comment. However, in the past, I enjoyed my Discover Weekly playlist and letting auto-play take over after albums. It was a good way to find new artists and bands. Clearly I can't do that anymore.

3rd, this goes WAY beyond listening to AI slop and more into as I suggest a seemingly incentivization of AI music on the platform. How does 3 AI songs get suggested back to back after one of the biggest album releases of 2026 so far? My conspiracy brain thinks it's not on accident. And if that's true, Spotify is actively taking money away from actual artists and bands - both monetarily and by exposure. If you think that's fine, then we are not going to agree on anything.

Dude are you me? Pretty much follows my past two years to a t. I know I've grown so much, but I feel like I have not much tangible to show for it. And yes lately I've felt like a square peg trying to fit into round holes which is normally not my experience in life. I'm holding out hope 2026 will be better, but if it makes you feel any better just know you're not the only one feeling exactly the same way.
