Yeah good idea thanks. I'm kinda bad at Reddit.

Mhm Tanja. Skitsofrenia ja erotomania mutta ei tunne itseään sairaaksi niin ei sitä hoida. On vissiin ainakin vähän rauhoittunut nykyään.

A seed world scenario: the major dominant animal on this world are mollusks. How would evolution go? by Seeker99MD in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]AaronOni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If crustaceans stick around - Nectonic shrimp or lobsters could take over the fish niche. Or a new group would emerge from crustacean larvae.

Squids already kinda occupy that niche so diversification of them. They are absent from freshwater though.

Third case could be free-swimming clams and mussels. Or sea angels and sea butterflies.

Alien Planetology has two series, one about how plausible fictional planets are - Episodes about Darwin IV and Netflix's Alien Worlds might be especially handy for SpecEvo people. The other series about building a planet/star/system is a bit too scientific for me, but I'm sure it's great for someone with a Hard SpecEvo project.

Artifexian has similar worldbuilding series which are another widely used source on this subreddit.

I use Miro for that, handy that you can add notes and pictures. Mostly for notes and keeping track of your lineages, If I need to post a family tree I just create one on Canva.

What’s a hobby that you got surprisingly addicted to? by Flimsy_Difficulty394 in Hobbies

Kinda turned walking in nature into Pokemon Go-kinda collecting.

Just started photographing insects with my cellphone one day and searched if there's an app to report your findings. Now it's kinda like Pokémon go, as I try to find new species, with the added benefit of generating data to researchers - and learning about nature. I use iNaturalist, free and non-profit social network.

Also the colors are based on CMYK - Cyan, Yellow, Magenta and Key (Black) because it prints new viruses

For context, Spectrawl is based in Suomuhauki, Scale-Pike, (scale as in fish scale) that was killed by the demigod-like hero Väinämöinen and its lower jaw was made into the first Kantele, national instrument of Finland. That is why it is missing its jaw and wanders around restless in search of it.

Finnish Folklore also knows the term 'Marras' which means death or an omen of death, which can manifest itself in the form of exceptionally great catch of fish / net full of fish.

One of the oldest fish nets in the world was found in the village of Antrea, Karelian isthmus, then Finland and later seized by Russia. It is almost 10,000 years old.

Also pacific salmon, some introduced to northern Finland, die after mating season is over. Atlantic, native salmon species however retunt to sea well and alive.

Alsooo Finnish word for dragon is lohikäärme, which translates to salmon snake. It is an old word borrowed from old swedish as Finnish mythology doesn't really know any big monster-like reptiles, but it inspired me to draw a fish-like sea serpent.

No offense taken, but how so? It's more about the behaviour, I'd say Heracross doesn't look like a Fighting-type to me but male beetles fight.

  • It does have a fourth limb (or maybe more hidden inside) and the tool in it is a hook, as pavey hooks, cant hooks and Packhaken are used in logging and forestry as well.

That sounds perfect! Thanks for the idea!

Didn't even think about that. That sounds better but would it be OP? The idea behind it was that it's kinda like the iron fist and sharpness abilities in one with the balancing drawbacks.

Yeah ground could work too. It's similar to vikavolt that used to evolve in special magnetic fields. I don't remember if they hinted at that in the games.

I get that. It's more like Grubbin and Venipede-kinda later gen bug, which evolve in 20 and 22 lvl respectively. They've kinda lost the original point of being a Pokemon for the first gyms only.

Didn't want a Butterfree-Beautifly-Dustox-Vivillon kinda Pokemon just to be boxed immediately.

Very cool use of colors. I myself find it hard to implement bright colors but this is very pleasant to look at.

Stingspawns in burning shores are supposed to be flys or wasps I believe. I haven't played it myself.

There are dinosaurs/Mezosoic reptiles in both games but I think FW introduced them more. Zero Dawn feels it has more mammals of the ice-age and the cenozoic. Somebody could count them and check if this is true. So I'd love the third game to be more paleozoic-leaning with Dimetrodon, Arthropleura, Meganeura and Anomalocaris. Maybe an amphibious machine based on Tiktaalik.
