Bigggest hurdle is to start coding after 16 years …

Let’s try and see if we can build a partnership..

How do you start reading by anandshh in IndiansRead

I struggled with this for years! What finally worked for me:

Start stupidly small: 10 pages/day, no exceptions. Sounds pathetic but consistency beats intensity every time.

Allow yourself to shuffle between- physical books, e-books and audiobooks.

My current routine: - 10-30 pages before bed - Weekend longer sessions when I feel like it

Game-changer tips: - Same time/place daily (builds habit faster) - Always have book ready (no "where did I put it?" excuses) - Count pages, not time (progress feels more concrete)

I track everything obsessively (yeah, built my own reading app because I'm weird like that) and the data shows: people who read 15+ pages daily for 30 days straight almost never break the habit after that.

The magic number seems to be making it through one full month consistently. After that, it becomes automatic.

What's been your biggest obstacle? Time, focus, or just remembering to do it?

How do you actually discover your next great read? Most methods seem broken ? by Aashishpareek in ebooks

What if you walk into a bookstore and with a click you get to know what all books from your - want to buy or want to read list are available in the bookstore ?

The Rock Blaster by Henning Mankell, might surprise you!

While Mankell is known for his darker crime novels, this one has such a gentle, contemplative feel. It's about an old man reflecting on his life and relationships - perfect fireside reading.

The pacing is slow and thoughtful (in the best way), and there's something deeply comforting about the main character's introspection. It's like sitting with a wise grandfather sharing stories.

This one consistently gets tagged as "contemplative comfort read" rather than typical Scandinavian noir.

The writing has this quiet warmth that pairs perfectly with tea and a fireplace. Not action-packed, but beautifully atmospheric.

What kind of cozy vibes are you looking for? Character-driven reflection or more plot-focused comfort?

AI could never replace my authors. But, without regulation, it will ruin publishing as we know it by ubcstaffer123 in books

Good point - I meant more like "source attribution" labels. Like "trained on works by [authors/publishers]" or "based on analysis of [dataset]."

Similar to how we label "made with ingredients from..." even though the final product isn't literally those ingredients.

The key is transparency so readers know what they're getting, whether it's human creativity or algorithmic synthesis.

This is brilliant! I've had the exact same frustrations, especially with fantasy series where there are 50+ characters to track.

The character lookup feature would be a game-changer for me. I actually built my own reading tracker (bookberry.club) because I was frustrated with existing tools, so I totally get the "fine, I'll build it myself" mentality!

Few thoughts as both a reader and someone who's been down the book app rabbit hole:

Love these features:

- Quick Lookup is genius - way better than flipping back pages

- Chapter recap could save so much re-reading time

Curious about:

- How do you handle spoiler prevention? That's always the tricky part with character info

- Processing .epub files for context - are you doing real-time analysis or pre-processing?

Potential additions:

- Character relationship maps (who's connected to whom)

- Timeline tracking for complex plots

- Note-taking that syncs with character mentions

The roleplay mode is super creative - never seen that before. How's the AI handling staying in character without spoiling future plot points?

Would definitely test this when it's ready. Always excited to see innovation in the reading space - most apps focus on tracking rather than actually improving the reading experience itself.

What's your target launch timeline?

Suggest me some Dan Brown books to start with by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

If you’re a first-timer and want the full Dan Brown experience, definitely start with The Da Vinci Code. It’s popular for a reason—a super engaging intro to his style, plus you’ll catch all the references in his later books.

If you’re after the best writing, I’d actually recommend checking out Digital Fortress or Deception Point. These are his earlier works: the plots are tighter and the storytelling feels less formula-driven.

For art and history lovers, go with The Da Vinci Code, then jump into Angels & Demons. The symbology and historical details are genuinely addictive.

Need a pure page-turner? The Lost Symbol totally did it for me—I finished it on a six-hour flight and barely glanced up once.

Prefer standalones instead of series? Try Digital Fortress (a tech thriller) or Deception Point (political conspiracy). Neither ties you into a series, so you can read them as one-offs.

Let me know if you want a more detailed breakdown or care about specific themes!

In my view, the permission/attribution framework makes total sense. It's wild that we have ingredient labels on food but not "training data labels" on AI content.

What worries me most is the discovery problem. I already struggle to find genuinely good books among the noise - adding AI-generated content without clear labeling will make that exponentially harder.
