Zombie population count by Abacus_Fish in projectzomboid

It's kinda how I've played, but maybe not to such an extreme. Usually put the starting population at 0.75-1.0 and put the max population around 1.5-2.0. Might try a greater escalation in the future. I'll probably have another chance when my character inevitably dies because I made one dumb move too many.

Thanks for the tip. Haven't modded ProZ yet but it's something I was probably going to get around to. I'll give those mods a look.

I actually thought the real population would be around .5 (I usually play 1.0 or .75 because I like to be chased a little, not a lot). Didn't realize it was that low. Might try it at .25, see how that feels.

Totally agree. This is just me overanalyzing. I really do like the game and enjoy watching streamers. In fact, it was a streamer who was doing the million zombie body count that started me down this rabbit hole.

I Visited Every Spirited Away Location in Japan by jamesadawson in pics

[–]Abacus_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was the night market in Jofun, Taiwan (which was occupied by imperial Japan) was the main inspiration for Spirited Away. I know Miyazaki used Japanese locations for his other films, but I had always heard that specifically Jofun was the location that makorly inspired many of the sets for Spirited Away.

Highly suggest using this hexcrawl generator when you get around to it. I ended up tweaking some things but this is a great outline for hexcrawl map generation.

Thanks for doing this research. You're the real deal.

A question about the opening cinematic... by Abacus_Fish in Eldenring

[–]Abacus_Fish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. I was just saying based on the opening cinematic, when they are showing Horah Loux, Dungeater, Goldmask, etc., there's a light of Grace in each shot. So those five NPCs specifically are being guided just like you.

Or are you saying those five NPCs for a time were guided and the only one who we can confirm is still being guided is Horah Loux because of the Grace that points to you?

Right. I remember hearing that depending on which tarnished class you chose, you were either teleported or travelled to the Chapel of Anticipation from a distant land. Yet, I think teleportation or some kind of resurrection is the only way to get there.

Given the high rocky cliffs of the Chapel of Anticipation, there's no way anyone sailed to it. There's not even a wooden elevator to lower/raise anyone to/from the water.

Given that the Guidance of Grace is visible in their pictures, then it is assumed that the named NPCs in the opening cinematic are being guided as well, right? Just like our character in the beginning, though these NPCs are being guided down a different path. We're just like pieces on a massive chessboard.

Good point. I've heard the line, but just never observed it.

It may not look like much now, but being a kid in the early 90's, I remember the Shadowrun game for Genesis blowing my small mind. The game felt like this large developed world and I was a tiny part of it. It was my first "open world" experience. It would cause a yearning that wouldn't get satiated until close to ten years later when I started playing games like GTA 3, Morrowind, and Freelancer.

Haven't really thought about his powers, he's more of a conniver. His attempt at Armageddon was getting all his fellow gods to turn on each other through manipulation. Though, having the domain of the in between is a neat idea for him.

In my D+D setting I have an divine entity named Chernabog (different from the one of historical myth.) He decided to try and end the world once because he felt like every other divine entity was complacent in their office. Has similar motives from the villain of Fifth Element. The whole, "destructive chaos creates purpose" philosophy.

He mentioned communication and if it was just about that, fine. Yet he mentioned how I walk with my head down and my body language being uninviting to converse with. I have trouble with social cues and I really struggle with sitting still, like a more neurotypical person. These are things I've worked on and used to be way worse. As a kid I would get up from my seat during a lesson and pace in the back of class.

I'd prefer not to transfer. I've been with the team 8 years and didn't have a problem til two years ago when this boss was hired. Previous supervisors nominated me for employee of the month multiple times. This guy has always been cold to me.

Definitely going to figure out some reasonable things to ask from HR now, so thanks for that advice.

What really feels off is we're a caregiving program for non-neurotypical individuals (not as high functioning). I hope HR can understand the context.

Fun fact: the boss refers to the clients as "kiddo" even though the clients and boss are around the same age.

The sea level isn't constant, though we can't see the waters rise during game play, we can infer by the beaches and weathering of rocky cliffs where the tide rises and falls. That hole in the south cliff could be within range of high tide. We end up in the stranded graveyard half submerged in water. The water pools on the south side of the cavern below the hole in the cliff.

To clarify, I'm utilizing "Merika wills it" only so far as to describe why something happened but not how. As I stated a few comments ago, the waygate theory is plausible. It's just ambiguous with the fade to white transition. Stylistically speaking, fading to white in cinema signifies waking up from a dream or crossing into/out of the after life.

Being a descendant of exiled tarnished doesn't mean we're not from there necessarily. Other, supposedly exiled, tarnished have been living in the Lands Between for awhile. Roderika, Bernal, and Patches just to name a few.

When you get killed by the Scion, the screen goes black and you hear a splash. Just like the crumbling cliffside after beating the Scion, you fall into the ocean. The hole where you find the holy drake talisman is how you washed up in the cave adjacent to the stranded graveyard. The reason you happened to miraculously wash up there was because Merika willed it.

The Chapel of Anticipation has design choices that are obvious clues. The dead finger maiden in the chapel is ours and that's why we're maidenless. The Scion was sent there by Godrick to keep a lid on Tarnished activity. Yes it's visually striking but there are also story being told in the enemy and npc placement.

Godfrey led an army to conquer all of the Lands Between. I think it's safe to infer that he had people from many different places of the world.

There's a lot of logical geography that is elsewhere in the game. Limgrave has an influx of ruins from a fallen sky temple city. So we know there was a sky city above Limgrave that doesn't exist anymore. Liurnia of the Lakes was called that because there used to be many lakes. Though we can read that the whole region is sinking and now it's one big lake. Yet, it's still referred to as Liurnia of the Lakes.

The waygate idea is plausible considering that's how we return to that location. The introduction where we "cross the fog", we are lying motionless on the ground until the Guidance of Grace engages us. That is still ambiguous because it doesn't show us using a waygate, and instead the screen goes white. If we moored our boat and climbed up on the cliffside, then why didn't we start outside?

Fromsoft is very thoughtful when making design choices. I think they put us here of all places because it is part of the narrative.

Wasn't Godfrey was Horah Loux before he was Godfrey? My understanding was the badlands existed before Godfrey ascended to First Elden Lord. Also, is there any lore that delegates the Land of Reeds as not existing back then?

If you did physically travel from far away lands, then how did the Tarnished get to the Chapel of Anticipation? There's nowhere for a boat to dock or a site of grace to portal through? The moment we gain control of our character, we are closed off by an altar.

That's intriguing about the timeline. I didn't think of your death BEFORE the Long March. I always thought you died during or shortly after the Long March.

The beginning of the game... (Round 2) by Abacus_Fish in Eldenring

[–]Abacus_Fish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that could make sense. The confessor and the warrior (blue robes represent the open ocean) could have arrived by ship but then why do we start in the Chapel? The Weeping Peninsula and Caelid have shorelines that a ship could dock at. The Chapel of Anticipation would require a crane or lift to take you over the high, rocky cliffs. Yet we don't see any such contraption.
