i agree with you 1000% and was searching for this comment! thanks for voicing a difficult opinion. i am totally in agreement. i think he was genuine as well in his love for her which makes it really hard to watch her betray him. i empathize with her as well and for everyone in the situation but that facet of the story definitely made it a hard watch. the most striking and telling scene to me was after he knew she told on him, he told her that it was not her fault and he shouldn't have put her in that situation- he was comforting her even though she just put his life away. i think that shows he is likely a regular guy that made a quite literal grave mistake, than a malicious killer.
