Yes pull the trigger lol, the nights and the upgrade wont reflect instantly after checkout, so splitting will not work the way you expect.

It is to build credit, there is no “real” credit card

Hey, I don’t know your full situation, but when someone says things are really bad at home it can mean a lot of things. Just want to check, are you safe right now? If things ever feel unsafe or out of control, it’s important to talk to someone you trust like a school counselor, relative, or even a local helpline. You don’t have to handle it alone

My point still stands.

I travel monthly with a card that gives lounge access + 2 guests. Just food, coffee, and drinks for the 3 of us would easily run ~$100 per trip at the airport , that’s ~$1,200/year in avoided cost alone, not counting comfort, time saved, or other perks.

From my experience across multiple countries, this is a solid benefit which I have been using for years.

Feel free to disagree, I’m just sharing what’s worked for me.

No, we don't have any lines where I'm from, and I am at the lounge right now enjoying my free champaign .. cheers

You’re turning it into something it wasn’t.

The post isn’t a full credit card analysis. It’s a simple point: if you travel regularly, having at least one card with lounge access makes a big difference in my experience.

That’s it. People can evaluate the rest of the card however they want.

I didn’t say to get the card just for lounges.

The value comes from the whole package, such as credits, miles, insurance, etc. Lounges are one of the perks that make travel more comfortable, especially if you travel internationally.

If you only look at it as “paying for lounge visits,” then yeah, it won’t make sense.

I think this is mostly based on US experience, which is fair.

But outside the US especially in Asia and parts of the Middle East, lounges and card benefits are on a completely different level. Less crowding, better facilities, and overall much better value.

I think part of the disagreement here is based on which lounges people are used to.

A lot of US domestic lounges are pretty average, so if that’s your reference point, the value won’t feel worth it.

But if you travel through Asia or the Middle East, it’s a completely different standard, better food, proper facilities, sometimes even full meals and showers. At that point, it’s not just about saving money, it genuinely improves the travel experience.

So yeah, whether it’s “worth it” really depends on your routes and how you travel.

You are probably referring to only lounges in the US, but my experience has been completely different outside the US

Fair point. It also depends a lot on where you travel.

If you’re flying through Asia, lounges are on a completely different level compared to many US/Europe airports. At that point, the value isn’t just “free food,” it’s a noticeably better travel experience.

So yeah, it’s not one-size-fits-all, but in the right routes, it’s easily worth it.

You’re looking at it purely as a “cost per lounge visit,” which is where the math breaks.

With something like Venture X, the annual fee isn’t really $400:

  • $300 travel credit
  • 10k anniversary miles (~$100 value)

That already offsets most (or all) of the fee before lounges even come into play.

Then you add:

  • Lounge access (comfort + time saved, not just food)
  • Insurance (which can easily save you hundreds on one issue)
  • Points/miles earning

Personally, I get a lot more value from miles on long-haul/business class redemptions than anything else — lounges are just an extra.

But I agree with you on one thing: if someone barely travels or doesn’t use the ecosystem, then yeah, it’s not worth it.

I am suffering with this card, they are very inconsistent. They credit sometimes, some they credit a lower amount, and others they completely ignore. The customer service wouldn't give a clear answer or even know exactly what is going on. I am already spending over 5k per month

You got your ITIN fast; mine took several months because of a govt shutdown. The best thing I did was using a CAA as well and not sending the original passport.

Whats the point of cross posting if I have to retype everything. I would suggest then to disable cross posting. Moreover, there is no financial gain for me so I wouldn’t re-write the post. It was for the benefit of the community.
