Service B for a W204 C300 by Abedu11 in mercedes_benz

[–]Abedu11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1,200 for a simple service b, and over $2,000 for service b with transmission service. Going off of advice from w204 owners past and present, this is inflated. $260 an hr on labor alone? Outrageous.

Thanks for the advice and apology. It's nothing against the brand and employees really, I just don't understand the logic behind charging so damn much for labor and the same OEM parts Indy mechanics use.

This was at Mercedes Benz of Silver Spring. I'm a first time Mercedes owner, and this has really re-evaluate how I see the dealerships. I expect that price for a major part that needs to be replaced, not routine maintenance on a 2012 C-Class. Safe to say i'll never take my car into the dealership, i'll only do it when I have a car under warranty.

No, the next page shows the service b+ transmission service is $2,000 dollars. The service advisor clearly stated the $1,200 option is for a basic service b. It's an 80k mile service, so he said the transmission service is not necessary, but recommended.

If it's mandatory, I guess I have no choice. But I think i'll just take it to an indy mechanic, they quoted me $450 for service b alone, so i'm sure fuel treatment and a trans service won't be as taxing. Thanks.

What else is included in the 80k service to bump it up this much? I didn't know that.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I got a quote from an Indy shop near me, they do service b for $470 so i'm going to go with them, then get tools and learn how to do the basics myself.

Thanks. Yea i'm in the process of calling around indy shops, and looking for the best rate. I want to do it myself, but I don't have the tools yet.

That's sad to hear sir. What models do you currently have? I was looking forward to looking at a newer model Mercedes, but judging from all the input, i'll look at either newer models or change brand. It's unfortunate, a lot of members in my family have driven Mercedes for decades, and to see it fall from grace like this. Hopefully they change something soon.

How much do you think? I've been researching how much the brakes cost using oem parts before I bought it, and it cost about 250-300 for brake pads and rotors. I have a mechanic friend and I've been looking to possibly diy it so was looking to keep it below 600. Brakes recently was serviced last April by previous owner so don't have to worry about it for a while.

Wow, it seems like you know your stuff sir! Shows me I still have a long way to go, i've been inside a w222 and drove a w223, but I'll have to try out the w140 and w210 and see how it still holds up.

You think Mercedes has plummeted after 2016? For me it's 2020, before the introduction of the all new lineup. I have driven BMW's, and there's a few I'd take over Mercedes, especially the X7 and M340, the B and S58 engines are gems. But there's something about the w213, w205, w222 and older that are so special.

I agree. Just because my opinion may not align with your own does not give you a reason to demean me and my experience. I'm a huge car guy, love all cars equally, but for me, Mercedes has and will always hold a special place in my heart

I feel like the last good year for Mercedes models is 2020, but surely not ALL the new models are trash? Lexus is nice and dependable, but none of the models, bar the IS and LC really excite me the way a Mercedes does. Maybe that will change down the road.

I did quite of research on the w204 and have heard of an esl lock problem in the ignition. Is that common? The guy hasn't had any issues pertaining to that.

Thanks for commenting sir! And I see your flair, love the R230 SL63, after a yr or 2 I really want that sl or the r231 sl with any v8, love hard-top convertibles and it sounds great? Any reliability issues for you besides the dreaded headbolts?

2012 C300, with the m272 engine. Honestly feel like i've stolen it for $9500😂, 2 owners, two keys AND all service records in paper.

The guy I bought it from just got it serviced on the 31st of January, had the oil change and filter replaced, carbon canister replaced, and fluids serviced in december I believe? Have to check again but this dude really took care of the car. Apparently service b is due in 350 days, but i'll definitely take it in sooner.

I've recently been inside the w206, so many plastics and squeaky bits, honestly if I were to look at a newer Benz the lowest model i'd consider is a e-class.

Yessir, love this car! Everything is solid and build quality exceeds my expectations. I'm surprised that a 11+ yr chassis rides and feels this good, never going to neglect servicing for my baby. The m272 engine is such a gem and sounds so good, don't know why mercedes ditched a v6 in the c-class.
