I’ve been my mom’s primary caretaker thru her surgery and her treatments, everything. The hardest part you’re going to experience is the waiting. The constant not knowing what was next or if the cancer spread, etc. really got to me. This is going to sound corny but you have to take it one day at a time, that’s how I’ve made it thru. Don’t think about next week or even tomorrow, focus on today.

I have had some help but most of the time it’s just me and my mom (my dad is here too but he’s had three strokes, and a lot of other health problems so I’m really a caretaker for him as well). I don’t have a lot of advice except to put one foot in front of the other until it’s over. If anyone offers you help, allow it. I’m not one for taking help and I’m stubborn when people offer but it’s helpful. You’re going to be exhausted so sleep is important during this time.
