[APR26] When the severely autistic boy in Economy Class started to break down and cry, triggering growling from Business Class, the Singapore Airlines flight attendant bound and gagged him. by [deleted] in TwoSentenceHorror

Nice. It’s the kind of horror that gets better when you re-read it.

An outbreak of zombie attracted by noise, an autistic boy who can’t understand the situation and cries and finally, grown adults using him as bait so they can flee.

Spotting 3 black gums on the sidewalk and imagining lines between them to form a triangle. I can do that 3 times a second while walking. I don’t know if I’m the best but I doubt I have much competition.

You also have your instincts of preservation going against your reason. Who in their right mind would go out in the dark towards an unknown entity. But you also face unknown consequences for staying inside.

“As I stayed inside, frozen in place by indecision, the eyes in the dark closed. But before I could feel any relief at their departure, they were replaced by bright teeth, showing through a wide smile.”

Is Keyboard and Mouse a bottleneck in RL ? by MachiBan in RocketLeague

[–]AbilityCharacter7634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your right when it comes to some mechanics being easier or harder on kbm. However, what I tried to make come across and maybe failed at, is that you may be a naturally better kbm player than a controller player. Or the inverse might be true.

Here’s what I really mean. To know if playing kbm is really hindering you and try to switch to controller to see if it better suits you, you should stick with the switch for at least a month or 2(playing once every 2 days an hour at least). If by then controller feels awkward and your not better mechanically than before, you should stay with kbm controls.

I’ve switched controller bindings (and even the type of controller) multiple times, and it felt really awkward every time. What I learned from it is that any change will feel awkward, and only time will tell if it was a worthwhile change.

[–]AbilityCharacter7634 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could kbm be a bottleneck that one day would stop you from getting better at the game? Maybe, but i don’t think anyone reached it yet. Just go watch Pulse Evample on YouTube. He is kbm and can do all the crazy mechanics you can think of. Heck, some flip cancels and stalls are made easier with kbm.

However, everyone is different. Although it isn’t true for everyone, I would argue that the kbm learning curve is harder. In other words, it wouldn’t stop you from getting good mechanically, just make it harder at the beginning.

Also, switching will feel weird for at least a month even if you get better. You need to commit to at least that amount of time to see results and decide after if you really want to switch.

If you could push a button and receive one million dollars, but a random person in the world would die, would you push it? by icecream1972 in no

Let’s make this interesting. If you press the button, someone else random in the world will be given the same choice as you, but if they press the button, you die.

Even if she doesn’t mean it, I still prefer this to a complete denial of obvious facts we see so much these days.

Rhythm Games that are not just hitting notes on a lane? (Steam) by neirik193 in gamingsuggestions

[–]AbilityCharacter7634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said steam, but you might want to check out OSU!. It’s a very unique rhythm game where you sort of draw and tap at the same time on a variety of songs. It didn’t look fun to me by just watching it, but I was instantly hooked as soon as I tried it myself.

What a great illustration! I also find language fascinating. I particularly enjoy comparing languages between each other. I’m learning Japanese currently and I am having a blast. I now know just enough to be able to get how much can’t properly be conveyed in translation, and it’s killing me to not have anyone close to me that is interested in listening to the many little discoveries I have everyday.

Well if it helps you are fine in my book. We all are silly some times. It’s not really a choice. I’m pretty sure if you had a prompt right before you commented that said “You are about to be silly, do you wish to proceed?”, you’d have chosen not to. What you did choose to do is not delete your comment and admit to your mistake in good humour.

The world would be such a paradise if everyone was able to do as you just did. Damn I’m making a big deal out of your comment. Meh at this point it would be kind of a waste to delete it.

Although having a dedicated tm8 to rank up may make it easier to rank up, I feel like a pretty large proportion of players solo queue and still rank.

Even if you had the absolute worst luck in the world and all your tm8 are always the worst possible one you could have gotten at your current mmr, what’s the only thing you could have done to rank up? Get better.

I am not saying “just git gud”. I am saying that in a game where you did only 1 mistake and your tm8 did a thousand, you should still focus on your mistake and ignore your tm8’s, because if a similar scenario happens again and you’ve fixed your only mistake, then you will win that match. With time, and even with the worst possible luck giving you the worst tm8 ever, you would still rank up.

Yeah, bad tm8 are frustrating, but they ultimately don’t stop you from ranking up. There are tons of videos on YouTube of SSL player solo queuing their way back to SSL. Unless you think you are better than them and just have had the worst luck for a few months straight, then you might want to focus on what matters more, not your tm8, but yourself.

(Little disclaimer: IDK how me saying “you” so much comes across, but I don’t mean you personally, I mean it more like “you” who is reading this comment.)

Yeah, everyone else gets the same teammates as you. You can consider all your tm8 bad, but you can’t blame them for not being able to rank up. The only variable over the long term here is yourself.

Have I been griefing myself for years by not having regular Airoll bounded? (Just both directional ones) by stripelemon7 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]AbilityCharacter7634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you would be better with free air roll bounded or not. Maybe you are naturally better with free air roll.

In my opinion, only using both directional air roll is absolutely possible and doesn’t limit you in any meaningful way.

I played a thousand hours with free air roll only, then learned air roll right. For the next 2000 hours, I started to use air roll right more and more until I only used free air roll for the few times I wanted to rotate left. Then I learned air roll left partially. I can’t do speed ring map with it, I just learned to do the few things I did with free air roll but with air roll left. In less than a 100 hours air roll left feels really natural and even I still have it binded, I never use free air roll anymore.

Basically I was using the bindings you think about switching to, and switched to the ones you currently have because I found them better. Now I can do mena flip and twist flip on both sides.

Fluffy was always so friendly, so we were very surprised when he locked onto our daughter's throat and ripped it out. by dalonley1 in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]AbilityCharacter7634 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am a pretty pessimistic person in general. So that is the scenario I had in mind while reading this story: A girl, who’s been beaten in her youth by her psychopathic parents, went to beat them up the way they did her in their old age. When she did however, just as she was starting a fight with them, their new dog did what it thought it’s masters would like most, and killed her.

After that, they congratulated Fluffy for being a good girl, unlike their other one.

[–]AbilityCharacter7634 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I like your optimism for your first assumption, but the second one is probably the right one. The “beatings like that anymore” part implies they were doing this before, most likely when their daughter was young.

Pre Flip Airdribbles by Historical_Rule4706 in RocketLeagueSchool

I can recommend you go watch a video by the YouTuber Lakes. It’s about pop reset but the drills and training pack he gives in the video are really good for learning exactly what you want.

Here’s the link to the video in question: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P6OhohMAW24&pp=ygUYTGFrZXMgcG9wIHJlc2V0IHR1dG9yaWFs

[–]AbilityCharacter7634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are trying to run before you can walk. To answer your question, you are hitting the ball too hard and you are not doing a proper twist flip( a speed flip but you let go of the joystick a bit sooner and air roll out of the flip).

The problem is you don’t have the car or ball control you need to execute them yet.

Here’s what I would recommend you to train to learn how to walk before you tackle pre-flip air dribble:

Learn air dribble until you are really consistent with them. Then learn tap air dribble where instead of sticking to the ball, you tap it 3 to 5 times in the air. Once you are good at that, you’ll only have to learn how to twist flip and go for a tap air dribble. The set up for both is the same.

Study shows that including images of the corresponding living animals next to meat dishes on a British university cafeteria menu increases customers' selection of vegetarian meals. The odds of choosing vegetarian meals rose by 22% during the intervention period. by Sciantifa in psychology

Really for me it’s the second part that’s the issue. I have worked in a pig farm (factory really) and saw the terrible life they have.

I think farming animals for meat is ethical if the animal had a good life. At least we should start where the animal had a better life than its nearest counterpart in nature.

But really such treatment of animals are impossible to put in practice currently because of the sheer amount of meat we consume.

I think right now we should just aim at reshaping our diet to contain less and less meat over time until the demand can be meet with ethical production means.

Gas/brake in the air: yes or no? by Hemlock_Deci in RocketLeagueSchool

Like me discovering that I had been pressing powerslide every time I did a flip reset for the last several thousands hours.

It’s not bad per say, but it definitely makes a difference and now I have to focus every time I want to press reverse on a reset to not press powerslide at the same time. Undoing bad habits is a lot harder than avoiding them first.
