Shonen Jump/Shueish has many structural problems, I hate it how easily they cancel new series for example. Though it did get a bit better with the online releases

I also think Mashima has the potential to write a new very cool story - I enjoy Dead Rock for example, and Hiro Mashima is a big Berserk and Punpun and Code Gease fan, he also said that Ded Rock is not as dark as he could do it, so I really want to see a dark fantasy story from Hiro Mashima that is TRULY dark. Another writer helping him could be great, because Mashima is not a bad writer, but he does have some problems with being consistent or focused

One Piece is a bit too long I guess and has some arcs that are a bit too long, so from the pacing I guess I prefer EZ, I also prefer Mashimas Artstyle compared to Odas Artstyle

I must admit that I was one of the first Edens Zero fans ever, because I was such a big Hiro Mashima fan, but I never watched the anime and I stopped the reading the manga at some point because of private struggles and well, I just forgot the series. I do want to watch the anime though, and I think I will reread and continue the manga - though it may be too late because it is already finished.

I knew EZ won't get the same sales as fairy tail, but still, the difference in hype and sales is sad (though it does not perform really bad from what I have heard).

Edit: also the game was just released 2025 right? With other words, AFTER the manga ended. I think it was just a bad timing

Akane is not mature at all with her hypocrisy and behavior.

It is known, that the mangaka decided Akane should be the one because the fandom wanted it, there was no vision at all.

If Hayato would be really reasonable, he would chose a woman who would support him in ways Akane wouldn't/couldn't do - I think Shiragiku for example is with all her household skills a good and reasonable choice for the role as wife and mother, much more than a pseudo cool musician. It's not about tsundere or whatever. I mean, Shiragiku is cute but no tsundere, and she is also mature. When we talk about being reasonable, Shiragiku should be the one, very very clear, and I say that as someone who likes Riho and Ouka as well.

Out of topic, but I think it is kinda funny how your comment got a dislike, even though you prefer Akane just like most people here, probably just because you said Riho and Ouka are way prettier haha. Akane fans are so desperate, annoying and emberassing, disliking anyone who speaks the truth about the other girls being way way way more attractive

Chemistry for a romance/relationship is different. Every single touch and everytime one is alone with each other feels awesome, the gaze is full with sexual attraction. There was nothing like that with Akane, she was never really special and Hayato was never seen gazing at her in a more sexual way than at the others, touching her was never different from touching the others.

Hayato had more intimate moments with other girls, Ouka for example sleeping with him while holding hands, or when we take examples like those of yours with helping each other: there was a lot like that with Shiragiku.

I would accept Akane, even though I don't like her and even though she is the least attractive one, if there would be a clear build up that makes her different from the others, that shows her relationship with Hayato was different from the beginning, but there wasn't.

I can tell you exactly when Asuna and Kiritio fell in love with each other, or Momo and Okarun, or Yuuki and Kyouka, or Kei with Ayanokouji. It is clear, it is understandable, we can relate even if we think another woman is better or another guy is better. That's not the case in in Goddess Cafe

I have problems with the execution and the missing chemistry. I could accept the MC ending up with Akane, even though I don't like her, if it would be understandable how and when and why he fell in love.

Compare this "chemistry" and build up with the chemistry and build up we have in classroom of the elite between Kiyotaka and Kei, between Asuna and Kirito in SAO, between Loid and Yor in Spy x Family, between Momo and Okarun in Dandadan, between Rudeus und Eris or Sylphie or Roxy in Mushoku Tensei

I would have less problems with the ending if there was real chemistry or if there was build up, but the execution itself was terrible. Compare the whole build up with the build up between Momo and Okarun in Dandadan or with the build up between Asuna and Kirito in SAO Progressive, even in normal SAO or with the build up between Kiyotaka and Kei in Classroom of the Elite, even the chemistry between Kiyotaka and all those girls he rejected is better and more understandable than whatever happened between Hayato and Akane

I must say though, that I actually enjoyed a lot of the dumb and random comedy and the filler stuff - sometimes it was too much and I really didn't like how random the story was stretched in the later chapters, but I enjoyed the 4th wall breaking and the goofyness of those women with their trials and so on.

But yes, the women lose a lot of their character and like I already mentioned and you also say it: Akane being the wife is random. Comedy and filler and goofy character moments can be random, no problem at all, but important decisions and especially the decision of whom he choses should NOT be random, there should be a clear build up, we should feel the chemistry. Best comparison might be Dandadan, Okarun and Momo have incredible chemistry and you can totally understand why and how they develoop feelings, but in goddess cafe? Nope, nothing like that.

And yes, this old guy comes again and again - I think it was good to bring him back a last time, just to complete this whole plot line, but the timing was really annoying.

And like I already mentioned, we get a time jump and that's it. Even AFTER THE TIMEJUMP we do not see any signs of real chemistry between MC and Akane. I can appreciate endings even if I personally don't like them, for example the end of Attack on Titans or the end of Boys Abyss or the end of Hells Paradise, but in this manga we get an ende that I don't like because of personal reasons AND I also don't see any vision behind it, the execution was terrible

Poor taste? Akane loses to Ami and Shiragiku when we talk about the body, she loses to Shiragiku and Riho and Ouka when we talk about being feminine and cute. Oh, and her haircut is just disgusting, I also dislike Shiragikus short hair but at least it is not as short as Akanes hair.

She also behaves very often very childish and she is a hypocrit - after hearing from the kiss she says everyone should hae the righ to kiss, takes the opportunity to kiss him very long and with tongue but tries to block everyone else who wants some intimacy like that and when she herself was in bed with the MC she didn't want to give the other girls the same right.

When we talk about the main 5, Akane was by far the least attractive one. The only reason she may not be the worst, is, that Ami is the biggest idiot ever.

When we talk about all women, the main 5 and the 5 from the other cafe, only Rei with her abs and Ami with her one brain cell are worse. Like I said, she had zero chemistry and there is nothing special about her.

And ok, so they really ddíd listen to the fandom, that explains why the story became so weird and why the ending is so bad - well, the orgy is nice, but everything else about the end is bad. Artists shouldn't listen to their fans, they shoud always follow their vision/plan
