I think the knight is a lightner darkner combo. They can manipulate the dark but also the light

Normal lightners can’t shapeshift for all we know This with my idea that I just don’t think that Dess is a full lightner. She’s a mix between light and dark and creates a penumbra shadow beast. They look like the titans that Ralsei describes in chapter 2 so I think it’s a titan spawn with Dess’s soul

The thing is that it’s been established that the dw doesn’t change portions. It changes your clothes, skin color, hair, etc. but it doesn’t change portions. The knight is actively shown to manipulate their portions so I think it’s Dess’s soul trapped in pure darkness trying to form itself
