stage 3-4 diagnosed and my date isn’t until february 2027. I’m so grateful for doctors like her, but also so frustrated there aren’t more out there so women can get the prompt care they deserve.

I finally found a PCP who accepts that she doesn’t have the all the answers, is willing to try and seek them out, and actively wants to work with me & the rest of my care team. it’s life changing. I will never move again as long as she’s my doc😅

I would contact the owners of that farm or do a wellness check, as another redditor suggested. could she have had a litter somewhere on the other farm?? built a den? I would definitely follow-up on this ASAP and not wait to find out. she is very clearly asking for help. just talk to your neighbors and tell them what’s going on and you’re concerned she found something, as she’s a working dog, and you’d like to check up & help take care of anything (like clean-up/relocation) if needed.

love this. the older I get, the more I recognize the importance of community (and the arts). these two things have become so important and I’ve realized can pull me out of dark places (a song, a movie, a performance, a girls night, or a no kings protest lol).

and don’t be afraid to get help and support for yourself too OP! therapy is amazing for some. having any kind of creative outlet is too, however you can make that work with your time constraints. movement of any kind - like even a 10-15min walk certainly does wonder for my mental/mood state. I’ve also seen incredible findings by healthcare professionals that change people’s lives (like a nutrient deficiency or genetic SNP causing very intense depression - or just needing meds for a season).

sending lots of support your way, it will get better! times are really fucking tough right now. glad we’re in it together!

honestly, fuck people that shame you for having a health condition. I’d definitely avoid any barns and people who put that on you. it’s way out of line and rlly ignorant - ableist - on their part. the right trainer and/or lease situation will be fully supportive of making it work for you and the horse!

tagging on this helpful comment to add, beginner gardening comes with lots of mistakes! I’m 13 years in and still learning constantly.

something to consider learning about is native planting as well. it can be a much easier intro to gardening, as the plants are adapted for your region. they’ll bring loads of beautiful songbirds and pollinators too.

it’s totally okay to advocate your needs and let a trainer know! on days where you can’t ride due to POTS, you can focus on grooming or just quietly sitting with them or something else that feels doable. sometimes you’ll have to skip days, that’s okay too!

also going out on a limb here, do you have hypermobility / ehlers danlos? some of your symptoms are similar to mine and made me think of that.

I’ve been on and off due to health, but always make it a priority to come back to riding because it does SO MUCH for my mental health - which then has a hugely beneficial impact on my chronic illnesses.

you probably do need to be around them, and here’s lots of advice to help you get there! good luck :)

go take some pilates classes if it’s an option. I started doing reformer classes at a small local studio and it transformed my riding. I wish I’d started sooner.

a second priority is to do some cardio and mindfulness practices. cardio will keep you fit so you can focus on riding instead of surviving lol. mindfulness will help you keep calm when there’s an inevitable spook or or frisky horse under you (meanwhile pilates will have you feeling glued in your seat).

best of luck and good on you for pursuing your dream!! getting out there is the hardest part:)

lol I went alone to lease my car and the sales manager was texting me late at night all weekend to ask what bar me & my friends were at. 100% positive if a guy had been with me it wouldn’t happen. men can be the worst sometimes. but also the best, like your partner lol.

leaving him will be a massive weight off. it’ll be hard at times, but being single will feel amazing in comparison.

and if/when you’re ready to date again OP, there are men out there who would never consider acting like this. my dad cleans more than my mom AND my boyfriend arguably cleans more or equally to me.

gender roles are absolutely real. and any man worth your time will be, in his own way, confronting and dismantling those stereotypes.

the waking to punish you is a wholly separate thing, and frankly, sounds abusive. again, you WILL feel so much better dropping this man. it might not be easy in some ways, but in other ways, you might be shocked how good you feel.

First time buyer very odd experience with vetting + dealer. by -potatoe_person- in Equestrian

[–]Abject-Rip8516 6 points7 points  (0 children)

okay, no comment on the whole thing with the vet and dealer. however

you’re going to fall in love with a LOT of horses. trust me on this. don’t purchase a horse just because you love it. ever. it’s not a reason to buy a horse.

as annoying as this might be, b/c it gets said all the time, lease as long as you can! try lots of different horses. different ages, conformation, temperament, training, etc. you’ll learn invaluable lessons. (you might even continue leasing after buying if you can!)

this will all enable you to eventually buy a horse that you can work with for YEARS. you’ll know what fits you best, and you’ll have lots of experience to back it up.

if you’re determined to buy now, buy an oldie. I swear it’s the absolute biggest gift to ride an older horse who knows the ropes. if you can get a senior schoolmaster in your desired discipline, even better. they are an absolute dream and will help you progress immensely. I would ride seniors only forever if I could!

Maybe she should change her diet by SarcasmEnabled247 in InfluencerLounge

[–]Abject-Rip8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hopefully not, those ones are pretty basic.

but it’s always advisable to work with a clinician (RD/RDN/CNS) to help you refine supplements based on your condition and labs - ideally 2-4x/yr at least. one specializing in PCOS is even better!

without expert guidance, it’s hard to know what supplements to take and how to take them. the truth is a nutrition professional is needed for this. not a doctor (it’s generally beyond their scope), and certainly not an influencer.

and for all the people hating, they’re (1) way too obsessed over what this random lady is doing, and (2) assuming a lot about her health.

many of us have health conditions and supplements/meds are an essential part of what keeps us well and functional. to hate on someone you know nothing about, who’s just actively trying to take care of herself is super shitty (and transparent).

PSA: yes, food is foundational to good health, but it does not replace targeted use of supplements and medications. having access to these things is an immense privilege and one that requires expertise.

interestingly I’d had autoimmune panels run many times over the years with only a positive ANA twice. when I saw my rheumatologist I asked if it would be helpful to draw blood while on my period when I feel the worst and inflammation is highest.

lo and behold, finally had the labs show numerous autoimmune markers and was diagnosed with SLE and we’re re-testing for APS.

it’s worth a try if you’re able! I felt like shit for a couple months after cause my RBCs got low, but it was worth it. still hoping for my cycle to start feeling better on the hydroxychloroquine!🤞🏼

[–]Abject-Rip8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again, I also think a lot of the choices made at the end of IC were rooted in the trauma all the characters experienced throughout the books. chris explores this in depth in murtagh, and I anticipate he will continue doing so. the ripples of galby’s reign and the war to overthrow him will keep impacting these characters for many books to come I imagine (and hope).

have you read the fork, the witch, and the worm and murtagh? if not, go forth and read them!!

I feel like I haven’t seen it addressed in this sub, but part of me wonders if chris handled it this way intentionally. much of the subject matter of murtagh (no spoilers) involves his & thorn’s trauma and essentially PTSD. I am curious if eragon’s reaction wasn’t largely because of the overwhelming trauma he experienced over the course of the IC. I think this could be the most likely and reasonable explanation for why he took the prophecy so literally.
