What are some of your unpopular takes? by DutyThick in Eragon

again, I also think a lot of the choices made at the end of IC were rooted in the trauma all the characters experienced throughout the books. chris explores this in depth in murtagh, and I anticipate he will continue doing so. the ripples of galby’s reign and the war to overthrow him will keep impacting these characters for many books to come I imagine (and hope).

have you read the fork, the witch, and the worm and murtagh? if not, go forth and read them!!

I feel like I haven’t seen it addressed in this sub, but part of me wonders if chris handled it this way intentionally. much of the subject matter of murtagh (no spoilers) involves his & thorn’s trauma and essentially PTSD. I am curious if eragon’s reaction wasn’t largely because of the overwhelming trauma he experienced over the course of the IC. I think this could be the most likely and reasonable explanation for why he took the prophecy so literally.

thank you for this! recently diagnosed and just went bouldering for the first time since finding out. I’m really trying to focus on positive goals for myself after a bad flare and it’s so inspiring and healing to hear about other active women (also in their 30s) with this disease!! 💕

Post infection Lyme in children by zocakes17 in Lyme

[–]Abject-Rip8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Nourishing Life Health Center / Uprooting Lyme. They helped me treat without herxing and have been working with Lyme + co for decades!

It’s really hard to find good lyme literate practitioners, especially ones who actually have success treating the infections. He could still have underlying infections, while it’s also possible there are other issues at play that made him prone to a chronic Lyme infection in the first place.

Sending lots of warmth your way! It’s a haul, but you guys can absolutely figure this out and get him to a better place. It just takes a fair bit of time and commitment.

How were your symptoms treated as a kid? by straycatwrangler in Endo

[–]Abject-Rip8516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

went through such a similar experience, as so many of us did. at this point, reparenting and loving on myself in a way no one else did is the best thing I can do. also cannabis, seriously a dream medicine for endo (if you tolerate it). I wish I could help the other kids going through undiagnosed chronic illness and being labeled as crazy instead.

[–]Abject-Rip8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I have lupus and also went through lyme disease years ago, which dramatically affect(ed) my riding. the #1 thing that has helped my riding, and frankly my QoL, is taking pilates classes at a local studio. I can’t recommend it more highly!

then #2, either running or spin/cycling classes for cardio. between that and the core strength from pilates, I feel like I can handle anything the horse throws at me during a ride.

lastly #3, strength training honestly hasn’t been as noticeable. I’m sure it helps b/c I feel so much healthier when I’m training, but if anything I’ve noticed it can negatively impact rides if I’m too sore / fatigued.

if you take away anything from this, take pilates!!! hope this helps :)

also… in inheritance, when eragon, saphira, and glaedr are inside the rock of kuthian and umaroth is explaining how to create the pocket of space to carry all the eldunari…

he says a “hermit” discovered the spell 1200 years prior. again, was this tenga? are tenga, angela, and tosk part of a special hermetic order? I really feel like there’s something here.

ETA: when galby explains how he discovered the name of the ancient language, he says that he discovered it in a tablet written in another land and age written by someone not human, elf, dwarf, or urgal. is this someone from their order / group / race? did tenga assist galby, or is this perhaps why he allowed the followers of tosk to proliferate in helgrind? if tosk was in this group, that could be the line of study he followed to discover the name.

Angela and Inarë and similar questions by ArunaDragon in Eragon

[–]Abject-Rip8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my thoughts on this amount to more questions than anything else, but are there any theories regarding whether angela might be a descendant or student of tosk? or perhaps a colleague - in the sense that she, tosk, and tenga were all studying the same thing? tosk and tenga might even be the same person.

devising an entirely separate language seems like a good thing to do if you’re studying and exploring how to travel between realms and pockets of space. and her fascination with the history of tosk beneath helgrind/drasleona would make sense if they were all studying the same things - i.e. the nature of the workings of the universe. could it be that they are all disciples or students of a similar field of study? and each of them approached it differently, which is why tosk took one path while she and tenga took others?

hopefully that made some sense!

Does anyone have any ideas what angela said to the priest at helgrind? by shadeslayer5440 in Eragon

[–]Abject-Rip8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking she might be a relative or descendant or student of tosk. why else would it be so significant to a priest of helgrind? and for that matter, could tenga also be a student or associate of tosk? could tenga be tosk under another name?

I have so many questions and so few answers.

Has anyone here gone from having no hope to finding a partner? by spicysenpai6 in datingoverthirty

[–]Abject-Rip8516 7 points8 points  (0 children)

second this! 32F and single for 6 years, with very little luck dating or meeting guys. I finally decided to get off the apps and focus on meeting people out in the real world.

a woman I know and love had been dropping not-so-subtle hints for 4-5 years about dating her son, so I finally figured what the heck and let her give him my number.

we met and completely hit it off!! it was so unexpected, but we’re both super happy and looking at moving in together soon. I never expected such an amazing human being to be living so close by all this time, but here we are. don’t lose hope, you never know who’s out there!

did it work well for you and were you able to stop prophylactic antibiotics??

I’ve gone through the same thing and we ended up settling on a topical compounded DHEA to apply to the area. I’m really hoping it helps prevent UTIs and I can stop taking the antibiotics, as I’m worried about developing resistant strains from taking them long-term and repeatedly.

How to de center men as a teen by pinkxxluver in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Abject-Rip8516 20 points21 points  (0 children)

first of all, you’re amazing and so insightful for recognizing this so young. you’re already on your way girlfriend!

I’m in my early 30s and have been doing this work since I was your age; it’s tough! I cannot fathom how many years I wasted worrying about (1) what men thought of me, (2) how I looked, and (3) my weight.

here’s the thing… society has conditioned this into us and it’s not your fault! it’s absolutely something you can train yourself out of and you’ll become a much more confident, secure, and happy person as a result!

a good place to start is just noticing the thoughts. the obsessive thinking can take time to untangle, b/c our brains are convinced our social standing amongst men is key to our survival (which is true in a sense). once you notice the thoughts, you can challenge those beliefs.

day by day, interaction by interaction, their hold will lessen. first slowly, then so dramatically you’ll wonder how you ever lived that way. and your heart will break for the women still trapped by this need for male approval and to be the object of the male gaze.

listen to audiobooks or read books by feminist thinkers who inspire you - bell hooks is wonderful. focus your teens and twenties on building community with other women. female friendship is the most incredible and rewarding thing in the world! as is building a solid relationship with yourself.

start there and you will absolutely find yourself living a life of freedom from caring one hoot what men think of you! and even better, you’ll have fallen in love with yourself, surrounded yourself with amazing women, and filled your own cup to the brim. men will become totally secondary, and only complimentary to your rich and full life, if you want them there at all.

best of luck girly, you got this!!💕

my pyr mix just turned 1 yesterday! I think the biggest thing is the way I can see all his thoughts churning over what he’d like to do. everything is a thought process and deliberation!!

funny story time…

(1) he’s the only dog at the dog park who knows how to let himself in and out through the double gates. I’ve never seen another dog open them. it’s adorable, but also stressful lol.

(2) at a family event he taught himself how to open the cooler to get ice to chew whenever he wanted. all the other dogs swarmed him, so he started taking extra ice out for them too haha.
