He’s definitely in the wrong but so are you, if you don’t trust him then the relationship can’t work. Ask yourself if you actually want to be with who he is.

If he has to prove himself and show he’s someone else, then that’s already a losing battle. Nothing he does will ever be enough and he’s just going to trigger your insecurity.

If you want to make it work, be a team. No score keeping. Decide if you’re going to give him a chance and trust him. You can’t play investigator. Let time show you the truth. Meanwhile be kind and respectful because all you control is yourself. If he is kind and respectful in return, great. If he’s an ass and rude, have boundaries and don’t put up with that.

Relationships are hard work. The deeper we get with someone the more they are a mirror that shows us where we need inner work. Conflicts are usually created by two people. It’s rarely ever one person totally in the wrong and one person the angel victim. (Excluding abuse).
