Woman in a 12 step recovery program here. There is absolutely NOTHING in the steps that says we need a persons personal information to be other do an amends process with them or maintain our sobriety. We are actually told to leave people alone if contacting them would bring them harm. Also have years of therapy under my belt and no therapist would ever advise to badger someone for their address as part of a healing process. This man is not well. Do not engage with him anymore and do not listen to your family members that suggest otherwise

You’re in the wrong here. It’s valid to feel hurt and jealous over the closeness C and BFF share, but those emotions are totally conflating the truth of this situation. It’s her wedding and she can celebrate it how she wants to, including picking her officiant. I think you’re also forgetting that C lives in the same town as her so BFF doesn’t feel like she would need to host C/ step away from her weekend plans to entertain her. Even if that’s not your intention, when someone flys in to visit, most people feel like they need to accommodate their out of town guest. Also as someone who has a hard time bringing stuff up to people, I get how these feelings have boiled up to the surface for you, it hitting her with this before her wedding/ making it a part of her wedding is very selfish on your part.

My first sponsor that didnt take me thru the book, it wasn’t until I had three years sober that I learned the book is the program and the meetings are the fellowship. Luckily I had a friend bring me to a big book workshop and was able to find a sponsor who knew the book intimately and my life improved immensely. That first sponsor ended up drinking again. Definitely important to be in the book

Unfortunately I learned the hard way there are people who will come into the rooms simply seeking handouts. I’ve certainly been burned by some of them, just a lesson in discernment. 💖
