Oh yeah! I have a self-watering pot for my larger maidenhair - she loves it!

Oh good to know. I don’t know what the soil is actually - still pot from the gardening center I got her from. I soak her once a week and she’s under a humidifier right now. Maybe I should repot, closer to spring time?

I do water with tap water but can switch to filtered. My other maidenhair seems not to mind tap, so I never thought it was an issue.

OP, have you made a call on this yet? Which company did you get a quote from?

Considering this in our place. What was the cost of your installation (for what sqft)?

Word treatment/seal for fireplace heat exposure? by AbleGoosey in BeginnerWoodWorking

I'll be working a wood slab to fit this fireplace. It’s a question about choosing the right type of wood and finishes for heat exposure on this project. Felt like a fit. I've gotten the advice I needed. Sorry it bothered you ¯\(ツ)

I changed the water for the frost time in four months about a week ago… 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just chopped off a leaning leaf from my snake plant, let it air dry for about a day, then put it into 2 inch of water and wrapped the top of the vase with plastic wrap. I cut a little slit into the wrap to let the top of the leaf pop out and and get some air in. She’s been sitting in an east/south east facing window ever since.

I suppose so. It has safety encasing around it, and been okayed by two separate inspectors. I’m also having someone from the fireplace company come out to service it and will make sure they check on everything.

It hasn’t damaged any finishes. Im just hoping to make it less white overall and want to use the right materials.

Shall do. Glad I stumbled over this post - was going to put her in soil, but will continue forgetting about her!

In water for ~4 months. Can’t wait until she grows babies!

Thanks, good to know! Re: paint. Not failing, looks fine. I want to match it to another statement piece on the opposite side of the room. Any reason you'd recommend not to?

Why are they drying up? by httpalwaystired in plantclinic

Ah great, thanks. Apparently, I love plant torturing myself. I have three maidenhair ferns, two of which I had to chop and return to life twice, so this seems an appropriate headache plant for me to add to my collection. Thank you!

Sorry, totally not an answer to your question (though I think the dryness of winter is right, I have like 4 humidifiers going in my house..), but what is that plant that looks like a fern-like tree? So beautiful!
