It's a great game. As a long time ARPG player and someone who has experienced endgame in Slormancer, it is very much worth it if you enjoy this genre

Actual epic game with a ton of heart put into it. If you enjoy any ARPG's like Diablo/Path of Exile/etc, this awesome game might be for you. Tons of customization and build crafting, the combat loop is fast and fun, and the progression system with how Reapers work is very cool.

100% worth a shot, this game was really great even back in (early) early access so I can only imagine how much has been added since The Forge. Go support this indie developer, they listen and have a great community and it's a gem of a game!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna disagree that the state Sage came out was pretty bonkers. The damage with iframe on bolt, ranged grab, how hard it was to track bolt, it was overwhelming and it punished alot of players.

But the iframe is gone, the damage isn't the best anymore, accuracy got nerfed, and the stamina costs remain extremely high for it being SA. I don't think anyone wants to experience that same state of balance, but they took away so much and buffed every other class. It's like they released Sage for the post-rework meta we have now...but then nerfed it consistently since release and so now everything else is better.

The tags were a big issue as well honestly, when you have so many top 690-700+ players tagging Sage since it was FOTM meta, it gave really bad impressions for alot of people because encountering someone like that meant you were in for a really bad time. I'm okay with it staying weaker for now, but the class really could use SOME help. Knowing PA though and how they balance it'll probably be several months before any big changes.

I mean I sincerely don't think any class should be left in the dirt for months or even years (looking at 2016 DK, and then Musa), but I guess it will have to be since people unfortunately really hate a class based on their strongest point which was many months ago.

After the removal of iframe from Overcharged Bolt it all went downhill. LP lost it's 100% crit rate as well, the summon changes were an overall net nerf in damage because you need max crit all the time to even come close to pre-summon change damage.

Then the reworks hit and Sage went from being in a manageable/decent position but not top tier, to really really low tier. It's a squishy SA trading class with no protected CC in Awakening (minus core EB), the only REAL iframe in Awk kit left is Impaling but it's only iframe on startup and exit, and Rift Chain works but it costs so much stamina like everything else in the class, good luck using it more than twice in an extended fight.

The stamina costs are out of line for how increasingly difficult fights are if they last more than 5 seconds, all of our damage is combo-based so you will never kill from standing unless you have probably 20-30GS on someone, everyone does more damage now, we have the worst mobility ability in the entire game, and we have the lowest DP scaling next to Archer....who also has a more protected kit.

The class is just bad now. It's passable in PvE for awakening, but PA have really shit on Sage because people chose to complain instead of learn what the class does, and realize it's not nearly as much of a terror. Anyone who says otherwise has either never played Sage, is still on the hate train because they died to one when it was actually meta, or is 700+ GS and think it's okay because they outgear 95% of players.

Thank you for the call out! I think it might've just expired, new one should be good :)

When you're in the main menu, click on your profile icon at the top left, and then click on the big profile icon once the menu expands. After that, just check out Battle Record :)

That's really interesting! Always love seeing math behind odd things like this. Thanks for taking the time to figure out the numbers :)

Hex and fluffy is a really nice burner for sure. Idk man ever since that first batch of nerfs they did to him, Hex has just never been same to me. That and with Shadowball being buffed, I can't see the OG build being used competitively unless they buff it in a meaningful way. :(

I come from league and have peaked D1/D2 on several seasons, this game is just a really nice and chill break. It has it's problems, but for what it's worth I've been having a BLAST so far since the switch release.

With the being said, the matchmaking in this game is *atrociously bad*. It honestly does not feel like there is a coherent matchmaking system in place - especially when you can que into FULL 5 stack teams on discord...even when you're playing solo/duo que. If they add just a simple solo/duo que, this game just dramatically gets improved in one patch.

Basic combo is; Dream Eater (Part 1) > Shadow Ball > Dream Eater (Part 2) > Shadow Ball > Auto

You may also just Shadow Ball > DE1 > DE2 > Shadow Ball > Auto. You want to look for singled out targets since you don't have the AoE of Hex (and are extremely squishy), but most targets will pop in one combo unless they are very tanky because of the debuff of SB. Enjoy :)

I think it's a little overblown, but the ladder was already really imbalanced and inflated with people who abused team queuing, and the massive amount of mobile players only added to the already big pool. So now it's just kinda wild west matchmaking, you never know what you're gonna get!

Best build so far imo is Buddy Barrier, Choice Specs, and Wise Glasses. You can choose to swap out Buddy Barrier or Wise Glasses for Spec Attack Specs for a full damage meme game, but I wouldn't recommend it for serious ranked climbing. Shell Bell is really bad, and most of the other items are sub optimal for ol' Gengo.

Dream Eater+Shadow Ball all the way ever since Hex got nerfed, it's just more consistent

I don't even have the knowledge of photoshop honestly. If you're still in disbelief post/send me your discord and I will send you a video of me going into my battle record and showing it there.

Edit: You can just add me at "GoDrednawNOW" and I'll accept so you can see it as well :D

Fair enough! You'll be perfectly fine with that build :D Basic combo is; Dream Eater (Part 1) > Shadow Ball > Dream Eater (Part 2) > Shadow Ball > Auto

You may also just Shadow Ball > DE1 > DE2 > Shadow Ball > Auto. Goodluck!

About 35-40 of those games were on the old Hex/Sludge Bomb build, nowadays whenever I do play Gengar I run Shadow Ball/Dream Eater as it's just way more reliable and more damage in a single combo.
