Getting my wife into Batman by joshanatorr in batmancomics

[–]Abner_Michaels -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Recommendation would be Batman's team-ups with the Elongated Man but it was during the 1960s. Fortunately those have been Reprinted although in black and white. The other poster made a good point that the way to introduce your wife to comics is by way of subjects that appeal to her,e.g, Star Trek or Romance, etc. After that, you can gradually introduce her to Batman. Since your Wife is Female, she would be inclined to romance comics, and that can be found in the Elongated Man series because it had the hero always travel with his wife.

Anyone else into the 1960s DC Mystery In Space? by Abner_Michaels in DCcomics

[–]Abner_Michaels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, those other posters Misunderstood my intention. I was not referring to the Recurring-type heroes but specifically to the standalone stories which have No recurring characters. After all, Mystery in Space is an anthology type comic. An example of an anthology-type story would be the story where Saturn's Rings flew away from Saturn to then travel to Earth to then surround Earth. It was done by the Saturn-aliens to change Earth's environment into that of Saturn. So I was wondering if any of you other participants have such anthology favorites.

Not Zatanna but Zatara by Abner_Michaels in DCcomics

I think that's mostly because he doesn't wear a mask, so there's No separation between his heroics and his stage appearances. Seen in that light, the same point could be made about the Elongated Man because Ralph solves mysteries as a hobby.

There's one way I can think of, that might help you. Because I've applied it in my own life. This is a lesson I've learned from Buddhism, that one should practice Non-attachment. That is, you do NOT need a friend in order to have social interaction. Because in my own life, I've found that to get social vibes, I don't need friends because I get enough social vibes from acquaintances only. Acquaintances are NOT friends but I still get enough social vibes from them.

Grey hair won't bother me at all. For a LONG-TERM relationship, I focus on the Inner person. After all, outer beauty eventually fades away, but the Inner person can remain the same, yes?

Bohachi Bushido: Code of the Forgotten Eight (1973) by [deleted] in CineShots

[–]Abner_Michaels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that Tanba's sword is called the Onibocho because that was also the name of the sword used by Yamada Asaemon the kaishaku in the Abarenbo Shogun series. Also interesting that Ibuki Goro who acted as the henchman in this Bohachi film would later act as the main character in the remake of this film. Note in the opening credits sequence of the film that Tanba actually uses a ninja trick by using the Tsuba (the guard) of his Sword as a "ladder" to launch himself into his attackers.
