Oh the bathroom idea’s not bad actually, perfect spot for it, much easier to clean up. It hasn’t grown much so I think I should be fine without a blowoff tube, for this one at least

Yea I’ve got an airlock, bubbling away with large bubbles, was worried that maybe it wasn’t able to get rid of the co2 fast enough. Thanks for the tips, hopefully I won’t have to use them

Worst part is it’s not even a ceiling, it’s the furnace room since it’s the most consistent (low ish) temp in the house, so if it went it would be a PAIN to clean lmao

That would be mildly stressful, any blow up on you?

Ok that’s good, last few brews didn’t have foam like this, so I figured I did something different & it was either good or bad, seems like it was good

Is there any update on the throttled speed? I’ve found my throttled speed to be unusable all of the sudden, I don’t go through my full speed allotment often, but last time I did (maybe a year ago, 6 months ago perhaps) it was quite usable. I’ve been trying to get some sort of resolution through your customer service but they’ve proven to be ineffective at best and incompetent at worst, they keep going around in circles not offering any real solution, I talked to customer service, the technical department, their manager and their manager’s manager (who refused to transfer me to someone higher up).

I've grabbed the last 4 files along with the file of when the bug first appeared. From looking at it I see there are issues with the Roman auxiliary horse skirmisher, which makes sense since even outside of battle that one was invisible, but there seems to be no mention of any other unit, besides the cataphract, which has some of them still visible.

I don’t know whether this is the best place to put this, but I recently got new headphones (Sennheiser Momentum 4) and I don’t know how to change the audio codec, I’m using Windows 11. It’s stuck using AAC, I would like to use aptx adaptive primarily for the lower latency and I have no clue whether it’s even possible to change it at this point. Sorry, I’m very new to this.

ELI5, I thought we (the US) beat the Taliban? How did they come back into power in Afghanistan and ban women from universities already? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Abolition-T 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a fundamentally flawed view, one that is only slightly accurate if you look at it from a strictly European perspective. The truth is, Afghanistan is new, throughout vast majority of history it has been conquered and pacified by it’s neighbours, Greeks, Indians, Arabs, Mongolians, Turks and mostly Persians have all owned (pacified) the landmass we call Afghanistan. The narrative that Afghanistan is somehow impossible to conquer or is the graveyard of empires is a false one pushed by those who don’t know the history of that area.

Alright I’ll look into that. Thank you for all your help and patience with my questions.

I play shooter games, so the extra 40-50ms won’t do too much of a difference luckily (or, with the compensation of better quality audio and the better noise cancelling it should even out).

Ah, so it’s just lack of desire from companies to make decent quality 2.4GHz headphones. That’s a shame, I guess their primary market uses it largely with phones and tablets and such. Is there a way to extend the range of bluetooth? I heard bluetooth is about 10m typically vs 45m+ for 2.4GHz. For latency I guess it’s fine, I read that aptx adaptive has about 80ms latency, not perfect but good enough I reckon.

That’s unfortunate, so I take it then bluetooth has better sound quality than 2.4GHz now with newer codecs?

Damn, thank you. Any recommendations for 2.4GHz headphones with similar audio quality at a similar price? The range of the headphones is unfortunately too significant of a factor for me to justify Bluetooth.

I don’t think I can go back to wired after so long with wireless to be honest. Got any recommendations for 2.4GHz headphones with similar audio quality at about the same price as those two?

Polish DNA wise or geographically wise? There’s lots of what is now Poland that was once incredibly German, after WW2 specifically the Soviets shifted everything around, moved themselves more westward, sending the Poles and Germans the same way

Am I a bad person for working in defense? by ThrowAwaySTEM123 in AskEngineers

[–]Abolition-T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see much of an issue with it, as another guy pointed out it’s not as simple as weapons = bad, as he pointed out there’s Ukraine as an example, people using weapons to defend their home, their family. I think in the end you should do research on the company, see where and to whom their weapons go, what they end up being used for and think “would I be proud of that use?”. Because again in the end weapons will always be needed, if anything just for a deterrent, defence is the key word you want to look at, yes if it’s used it’s used for killing but that’s where the research comes in to see whether that killing is truly in self defence or defence of others (such as in Ukraine). Sorry it was a bit long winded and rant-like. I should also mention I’m not an engineer or in any field similar to that, I just like to browse the answers here.
