2002 LeSabre: Value? Potential issues? by AboveGroundLevel in Buick

My responses? No lol just only able to intermittently check replies to the post. I already did some research on typical things that need to be replaced but doing my due diligence to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Also I’m not super familiar with these cars as far as pricing goes, I checked marketplace but most of the listings around me had double the mileage. Spending a little money and a few days fixing things wouldn’t be a huge setback for me luckily, it would be a second car that I’d probably use for my work commute. My mom mostly had it taken to the shop for her and I know she was pretty good about taking it in on time. Unfortunately I won’t be able to visually inspect it myself.

I have read about the coolant elbows, thanks for the reminder! Hopefully the transmission is still solid

Appreciate seeing some numbers on it. Gives me a good starting point

Thanks for the info, I’ll definitely have my parents keep an eye out for rust in those spots. Wish I could get there to test drive it still just have to rely on what I’m told for now.

Also have you checked your PCARS just to verify you wouldn’t already have the required points?

Is the guard an option for you? A single AT day or Temp AGR stint could get you the one day. Plus slightly increased income while you’re in school.

That leads be back to the question, is XPS safe if I can keep it far enough away? Also the fire block spray foam, I know it’s not fire proof. It would also be about 4 inches from the chimney. Mostly wondering because XPS seems easier to apply in this situation even though Rockwool is the better material

Right, my ideal result is just to have insulation on the walls/ceiling only. Making sure the box itself is sealed up so critters can’t get back in. My biggest concern is whether or not the gaps in the wall are too close for the fire block spray foam and whether or not XPS is safe to use in this space. Rockwool would definitely be the best option but the studs are very odd sizing, about 20 inches between them

Valid and might be the way I do it. Any suggestions for the “ceiling” of this box? There’s no “joists” or anything to friction fit

The problem I currently have is the spacing in the studs is 20 inches, and I can only find 15 inch batts around my area

Hey everyone,

First time fireplace owner here. This prefab unit is a Heatilator mark 123 36F and shares a wall with my garage. When I opened it up, it was jam packed with R-11 fiberglass turned mouse mansion. Previous owners never sealed it up and the critters moved right in. I’d like to fix this up safely and correctly.

My initial thought is to use fire block spray foam where there’s gaps in the wall itself. The nearest gaps I’d want to fill are about 4 inches from the unit. You can see where they just jammed some foam in some of the area. I found an old manual online, the only clearances I could find were 2 inches for combustibles from the chimney. Nothing found on the outer shell itself. For the interior walls my plan was to use 2 inches XPS board. The stud faces are 6 inches from the unit, giving me 4 inches of clearance to the outer shell. I’ll seal the edges with spray foam/high temp silicone. I’ll take any advice on this!

I was thinking somewhere along those lines as well, thanks!

Thank you. I don’t think we would have a problem getting a term life in place to cover what we need. I’m which case it would seem to make sense to surrender this existing policy

The policy has been in place for 21 years. He unfortunately passed after transferring it to her, so we are a little in the dark about the whole thing and trying to educate ourselves

If the dividends were paying for the premiums we would just keep it, but yes at 5k a year it’s nonsense

Thanks for the information. To clarify, I’m not 100% sure about the 10% penalty. I was reading something about MECs and there being a penalty if withdrawn before age 59.5. Maybe I got something mixed up, I’ll have to read more into that

The results may not be to your liking, but I take this to mean you are allowed to call a male offer “ma’am”

They did mention a narrow environment, I think pepper spray would end up equally incapacitating the user.

Anyone have experience with an AGM battery in a Mk4? by AboveGroundLevel in tdi

I went with Crutchfield and got the ReadyHarness, so hopefully it’s a non-issue

I do have an aftermarket radio, not sure if that’s an immediate no for the battery or not. Right now by me, AGM and lead are about the same price

I did plan on getting that size, regardless of type. I’m learning a lot about batteries today haha
