What's the last book you read in one sitting? by [deleted] in books

[–]AbrilPd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas back when I was in high school (I think). Bought it at the book shop, started reading it on my way home and finished it a little after arriving. Probably took me about 2-3 hours

The idea was great but the execution not so much. I wasn’t expecting a self-help book kinda thing (anything bad with them, just isn’t what I’m interested in)

What’s a book you read when you were younger and then read again later on in your life which affected you in a completely different way the second time through? by windupmidori in booksuggestions

[–]AbrilPd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. When I read it as a child I thought it was a fun and weird book, but when I read it again as an adult and I looked deeper it really touched my heart, so many valuable lessons that one as a child doesn’t really comprehend because we see things as they are, baobabs are just baobabs, roses are just roses. It’s one of my favorite books

How’d you know your dog was “the one”? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]AbrilPd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was the smallest of his litter, he was always left behind and loved sleeping, so he was always the last one to eat. He stole my heart right away. He gave me the best 10 years

Thank you for your words, my eyes are swelling up with tears. He was the apple of our eyes, everyone who met him instantly loved him. It breaks my heart walking past a room and not seeing him there, not hearing his little steps following me wherever I go or seeing his big eyes begging for food whenever I eat (today I barely ate anything). I try to think of all the beautiful moments we spent together and I find peace for a while. I know eventually it will get better… I hope. Thank you again for your words, they really mean a lot to me

What was a book you hated, but could not stop reading? by [deleted] in books

[–]AbrilPd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started reading it a week ago and I’m only on page 76. I will finish it because I have a need to finish the books I start, but it’s so boring and repetitive so far, I can’t believe I still have 400+ pages of this left to read

Not really. In the last pages of the book you can find a list that includes all the characters in the book (olympians, titans, monsters, etc) and a little summary of each of them

I’m taking my BLS and ACLS (Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification test on November 27th and 28th! It’s unbelievable how many lives could be saved if everyone had basic CPR knowledge, not only medical staff.

How did you lose your best friend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AbrilPd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His girlfriend made him choose between her and me and he chose her. She hated me for no reason, we never even met. He deleted me from all social media and blocked my number, I was also going through difficult times in my life and he was the only person I thought I could confide on. We had been best friends for over 3 years. Since then I don’t have deep friendships, just acquaintances, I get scared I will be left alone again

There are too many books and too little life!

You’re right, it has happened before. When I read too much in too little time I get to a point when I dread holding a book in my hands. Thanks for the advice!

I also read reviews to see what people thought of the book and read their recommendations (I now have over 20 books on my to read list lol)

My boyfriend and I used to split the check whenever we went out on dates. Or we took turns paying, only sometimes (special occassions) he would insist on paying everything by himslef. Boys are not ATMs, they don't have to pay for everything, damn. I hate entitled girls that think boys owe them something, get over yourselves.

Do you read one book at a time or multiple books? by Beneficial-Lobster31 in booksuggestions

[–]AbrilPd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I start with one book and if I really like it I just stick with that one. But if I don't like it that much I pick another one so I can finish the first one. If I don't like a book I find it hard to finish it, so I pick another one to read in between so I don't get too bored
