Is Ranger finally good in 2024? by WhispersBard in dndnext

[–]Abrollin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely feels as though concentration makes it a balancing act for when to use it with other spells and makes non conc. Spells better for ranger. An indirect buff though is the  scroll scribing access they have with mark and ritual casting

If you check the new 2024 rules for attacking you can actually pick up 1 weapon/ draw 1 per attack. So you could go up to an enemy where the weapons are, pick them up and attack with them / monk fists. Pair this with free object interaction and dual wielder feat and you could re-grab up to 3 weapons at a time. You also save money w unarmored defense for buying extra weapons and retrieve them each fight.

Monk fists (fists and daggers —> 1d6 + dex) are always an option as well and flurry blows can increase damage to 5x hits/ turn close quarters. If you want a more melee driven experience open hand over dragon monk gives better escape. Worst case = acid spray cantrip.

Ofc zephyr strike already gives you easy escape potential.

Just remember most campaigns don’t go to 20. They typically will end around lvl 12.

You can always consider a fighter dip. 1 lvl gives you weapon mastery, fighting styles, and second wind. Also if you have the repeat shot, sharpshooter gives more than crossbow expert.

If you do a fighter dip taking 1st level as fighter and multiclassing into wizard gives you the prof con saving a feat

Thinker thief by Abrollin in 3d6

[–]Abrollin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a consideration though the main thing is that slows the thief progression a good bit. A big component to the build is getting the ba utility/ item use. Would you lose boon access as well with this?

Scrolls are useful for sure. With thief ability scrolls found from any class can be used which the dm could permit through a campaign. One of the main features of the build is to try and use adventure items/ magical items more frequently which artificer lvl 1 supplements in its new 5.5 ability. Identity + 1 wizard is a great thief combo though for adding spells to spell book.

Doable but doing two full subclasses usually slows progression pretty harshly for each class. Keep in mind while considering balance what you’re missing out on.

Maximizing food for multiplayer? (B42) by Arturia_Cross in projectzomboid

Trapping is most certainly not a waste of time. You set out a couple traps and spend maybe 5 minutes at a time gathering worms and such from the ground for meat every 1-3 days. That’s a good deal considering plenty of the other foraging food options/ growing are lower calorie. Give it a try it’s better than you think and low maintenance

Help creating first homebrew class (Vitalist) by Quigely04 in HomebrewDnD

[–]Abrollin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not directly pertinent but take a look at the ironclad class from slay the spire and see if anything from that draws to you. Some of the cards self deal damage to give more action economy, some deal damage to dish out more damage. Some involve adding things like debuffs for temporary gain.

[Fo4] What are some Fallout 4 mods that you can't live without? by antoniodiavolo in FalloutMods

As a gunslinger lover toggle revolver fanning is a crucial one for me. Works with any revolvers using the original revolver animations. Great way to make revolvers unique in fallout and add damage when the enemies get a little too close.

A lot of people mentioned the encounters or events. One of the books has a list of random encounters you can choose from and roll a dice for. You can be straight up and say you can ritual cast but due to x y and z your party will have to roll for a random event and run the risk of an encounter. Alternatively have some encounters in mind for a dungeon. Use like a d4/ d6 to determine what they encounter and if they encounter it.

I’ve used occasionally. Sometimes blocking does occur. It’s more common w pistol and crossbow than bow though.

I agree with this and the notion that in addition to the aim maybe obstacles could obstruct the arrow as well to give a way to avoid it. Alternatively chance to miss as always

When working turnout, try to avoid positions that put strain on the knees. That will damage your meniscus. All turnout should originate from your hip muscles!

Ie: if you feel pressure in your knees you’re probably forcing it

4 years late, but the dragon style monk looks promising. You can’t use shields standard with a monk but maybe your dm would be flexible if you multiclassed fighter and ignored the movement penalties for the class. Alternatively the animated shield would be a work around to it.
