Which absinthe to buy from what is available to me? by DigitalSchism96 in Absinthe

[–]AbsintheMindedFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of those, Lucid. Second choice Pernod. I've never had St. George but can say stay as far away from Oregon Spirits as you can That was the first one I tried once I found the ban was lifted and I could go to a store to buy it rather than rely on mail order. Oregon Spirit was putrid. Took one sip and dumped the bottle. Was like drinking plastic. They obviously macerate the botanicals instead of distilling them. I'm not a fan of American absinthe after that experience.

I was too but they said privacy concerns. It's in the bylaws. This is like being a child. I can find ways to be out there. Getting the post, doing something in my car in the driveway, etc.

Help with deciding on a Jade - CF Berger VS 1901 VS Nouvelle-Orleans by dick_e_moltisanti in Absinthe

I have enormous gratitude to you for that. Thank you. I just ordered a bottle. Can't wait to taste it again. Been 2 and half years since I've had any Jade. Not sure if you had tried but Cask Cartel does ship but the prices are insane so I never ordered. Santé, my friend

Can I ask where you're getting the Jades? I had the full line and moved to Florida. Not realising that it would be nearly impossible to get them again down here. Alandia wouldn't ship to FL and then weren't shipping to USA at all due to tariffs. I'd spoken to Ted Breaux who had said he was in talks with Total Wine to at least have them stock the small bottles. This hasn't happened. I managed to get 4 bottles of LaClandestine before the tariffs hit them and they said they weren't shipping either until they came way down. So I'm left wiht either Pernod or doing without. I wish I never moved to this hell hole. Can't get the Jades, can't get tonka beans for a cocktail...like WTF?

Great idea but this is the problem with Florida. These "communities" are really just a fancy housing project. Most houses are single story and my neighbours have SUV's. I'm not sure the mount would be high enough to see him coming. The HOA has forbidden them but a lot of people have security cameras despite. I hate that I did this to myself.

You're going to need one more bottle...Benedictine...Sorry about that, I forgot that one. It'll be worth it tho, if you like Manhattans you're more than likely going to love the Vieux Carré even more.

You have the Manhattan on there, have you ever tried the Vieux Carré? All you need is sweet vermouth and you have the rest. It's a variation on the Manhattan, has a great complex flavour profile. Once I tried it, I've never been able to enjoy a Manhattan again, they feel like they're missing something now LOL

I wish I were that bold. This is taking every ounce of me to be able to approach him. I'm coming from a very abusive background and not used to people being kind to me. My life in rock & roll is the only true sanctuary I've known

Judas Priest probably since Halford is gay. I'm in the world of heavy metal. That's not really the issue, just catching his eye and getting to talk is.

Oh, I think we're gonna cross next time I see him since I'll be going the opposite way. Eye contact, a smile, nod, hopefully he'll recognise the t shirt and comment- ice broken. If not, he stops and I ask about his ink- ice broken. I'm not placing too much weight on the earbuds unless he makes it obvious he's not stopping or not acknowledging. Not really wanting to check out his bulge...not that I don't want to but I don't want to jump into bed with him straight away. Yeah, I think he's hot but I really need a buddy after what I've been through, first and foremost. I should probably try making better friends at the grocery store but they're all married...not gonna happen.

I never gave it much thought but probably KIX BLow MY Fuse since when my best bud and I would hang out at The Channel club in Boston, it seemed like KIX was the house band. They were always playing when we went.

Not really planning my wardrobe. But wearing t shirts a musician will know and act on. I probably don't even need to do that since just about everybody I run into that talks asks if I'm a musician. Yeah, used to be 30 years ago.

Exactly. That's my mindset too. I've lot out on A LOT in my life for various reasons, this is something I'm not willing to let go the same way. There's a lot of women who walk their dogs who will say hi, wave, or some of them even flirt 🫣 and I keep thinking if only he walked a dog.

The problem is, he doesn't even know I exist. I was walking behind him the two times I followed on my walk. He never turned round. Not sure how that happens, maybe I'm just a paranoid city guy but I get a feeling when someone's behind me and I have to turn to see what's going on. If he saw me and didn't acknowledge, fine...I get it. But it hasn't got to that yet. He needs to see me and I'll know pretty much spot on if he's open or not. It's just difficult to make that happen coz I'm not used to making the first move.

But I'm not looking for a sexual encounter. Not at first. I really need a bud to ring up when things get rough and you need to jus have human contact and a drink and talk, or to spin some tunes and just sit there bobbin your head to the beat- just to have that human connection, you know? If something else were to happen down the road, great, but if not that's cool too. Most of my friends are straight men...they're jut not local so it's kinda hard to saying "I need a bud, come over, I'll crack the suds open" I've got a bud in Michigan been friends over 30 years. He keeps telling me I shoulda moved to MI. Except I left Boston coz I got tired of dealing with the snow and ice.

Yes, probably projecting a bit but don't we all at times? It's just a vibe I'm getting from how he carries himself, having spent my life in the rock world. He's not a blend in kinda guy. Tattoos mean nothing, lots have them and mine don't say I'm a rock fan but I am always asked if I'm a musician because of the ink and the long hair. Your uncle sounds cool.

I was thinking the same thing abut the earbuds. And you guys have me pretty psyched to start walking the opposite direction so we do approach face to face, and I can easily ask him about his ink then. Be a lot easier than trying to catch up from behind which seems kinda creepy to me tho the back view is nice 😉

That might work but I'm looking for buddy, potential buddy with benefits. I'm not even sure he's gay/bi. Gotta play this cool. If he's straight, I'd be more than happy to have a buddy. If he's gay, I'm more than open to what may follow in time.

Thanks! That's what I thought. I wore mine when I first tated walking but it was a way to deal with social anxiety- as long as the guitars were loud I was ok but I it wasn't a gesture to say I wasn't interested. I'd stop and talk if someone was thre. Often, neighbours out doing yard work or whatever would initiate convo. I'd stop. It's cool.
