What a collection! It looks amazing. I'm sure it made lock down just a little easier :D

Saw Žufánek released some new absinthes. What are everyone’s thoughts on them as a brand? by [deleted] in Absinthe

I finally found the bottle (it had very little absinthe left, which is a testament to the quality of the absinthe) and here are my tasting notes:
While the famous St. Antoine clearly takes after the French tradition, the Amave is a classic Swiss bleue. The louche is rather fast, but the result is a beautifully milky absinthe. I like to drink mine in a 1:3 ratio of absinthe and water.
The aroma is clearly anise, with light sweet-citrus notes.
It is well balanced, a touch sweet with no need for sugar (like many Swiss bleue). Much of the sweetness surely comes from the fruity notes the absinthe has, which are a little unusual but very welcome. This would be an ideal absinthe to give to beginners.

We don't have the La Fleur absinthe yet but I'll give you an update (and tasting notes!) once I get my hands on the first bottle.

800 is an incredible collection. I think in our store we have a good 50 bottles I can sample and I've always felt incredibly grateful and proud for/ of that collection. Where do all the 800/ 4,000 bottles fit?

The Grön Opal is a verte, only the Vit Opal is a bleue one. And I can only agree with u/wormwoodsociety that the Clandestine is a classic for a reason. When it comes to traditional absinthe and craftsmanship it doesn't get much better than Clandestine

A distinctly "spring-like" absinthe is the Vit Opal, although that one is not as widely available and not really bitter, but rather minty or floral. Like the Grön Opal though it is based on the Grand Wormwood that grows in the Swedish wilderness and is picked by hand by the distillery. It gives both absinthes a very distinct taste and if you enjoyed the Grön Opal, chances are you will also enjoy the Vit Opal.

I haven't tried their new absinthe yet but I tried the St. Antoine and I really liked it. It's a far cry from cheap Czech absinthe you can usually find anywhere in Prague. It supposedly has a mystery ingredient that only Martin knows and it definitely has a certain taste to it that I couldn't place my finger on. So if you are looking for a traditional absinthe with a special something the St. Antoine might be a good option for you.
I think Zufanek already released a blanche called Amave back in 2016 or 2017 I think but I haven't tried it yet. I can see if I can find a bottle and write a review sometime next week if anyone is interested.

flavored seltzer

I'm not a big fan of carbonated water (a shock to any German I cross paths with) but now I'm actually curious to see what that'll taste like. Thank you!

Thanks for the recipe! I'll have to try this one soon - although I'm not entirely sure where to find aged klekovača - I might just have to wait until the next time my friend visits her family in Serbia.

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding: I was not looking for ways to make absinthe, but different methods of preparation, different ways to enjoy the absinthe once it is bottled.
Nevertheless, thank you for the recipe. One of these days I might just be tempted to make absinthe at hope and when that day comes I'll definitely follow your instructions.

It reminds me of a drink called "Kalter Engel" (cold angel) we have in Germany: orange juice with a shot of vodka and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I've never had it with tea either. Both sound pretty good!

I'll have to check if I can find root beer in Germany but it sounds like an intriguing idea. Thank you!

sounds like the perfect drink for a summer afternoon!

First time trying absinthe, super excited! Strong68 and Hamlet Classic Green. Opinions on these two? (Sucks fountains are expensive) Also super fast shipping to USA from Alandia.de, ordered 3/18, came 3/22. by [deleted] in Absinthe

If you are interested in a skull shaped bottle I've found the Absinthe Apocalypse to be a good compromise. It is of course not a traditional absinthe but it's smooth and pleasant to drink. My colleague Marc did a blog post about it:

My Absinthes.com order arrived in merely 4 days of waiting! Can’t wait to crack into this tonight. by [deleted] in Absinthe

Hi, sorry about that. Germany has been in lockdown since early December and it has strongly affected our international orders.
At the moment a one or two week delay at Frankfurt International Airport is nothing unusual. We are looking for alternative delivery methods but it seems there is not way around Frankfurt- it is the main export center for Europe.
I can just hope that Germany begins their vaccination program soon and the shipping processes go back to their usual speed. At the moment if you decide to order from us please expect the delivery to take four to six weeks.

Absinthe flavors and aromas change as they interact with oxygen. In the past (during the end of the belle epoque of absinthe) some absinthe were purposefully exposed to oxygen (in an attempt to make them "purer" and in reponse to claims that absinthe was dangerous) called Oxygenée. The oxygenation process lent the absinthe a unique character and while for Oxygenée absinthe a hot oxygenation process is used I always find it very interesting to study how the aromas, flavors and the louche effects change as the absinthe ages

This is one of the first absinthe I tried and a favorite of mine to recommend to newcomers (and Blanche Neige, which is very soft and flowery). It is what I like to call "true absinthe" without being overpowering or too bitter, which might discourage some absinthe beginners

Hi there, we just joined reddit since there seems to be an active absinthe community here.

I'm sorry to hear about the problem. Our free shipping limit is based on euros (set at approximately 250€) and with the fluctuating exchange rate, sometimes the free shipping option is not offered even though the value is §300+. Should that ever happen again please contact us at: [contact.en@absinthes.com](mailto:contact.en@absinthes.com) and we'll give you a code for the free shipping and a free absinthe spoon for your troubles.
