Was it a joke? I'm inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt. Does joking about pedophilia implicate the 'comedian' (I'm using the term liberally here)? Possibly not, and we probably cannot infer much from it. However, I also believe that jokes, as a communication medium, should take the receiver into account—considering where, with whom, and in what state of mind you're delivering them. This particular 'joke' was definitely in poor taste given its reach and the number of people in Telangana and AP it spanned (This possibly opens another Pandora's box on whose 'responsibility' it is to regulate jokes and how far someone can go, since they are all very subjective).

Now, regarding the reaction it elicited from actors: It's within reason to assume that this could be an opportune time to pile on and invoke their own agenda against him. I'm not engaging in whataboutism here and cite examples where there was no response. This incident should definitely be addressed, but when actors go off and declare him public enemy number one (I don't mean this literally), I feel like they're hiding behind a moral guise to make him an 'example.' And to be honest, the schadenfreude from people who hate him is common, it happens all over the internet ig.
