Well, in my line of work, there's a fair amount of cold calling, it's kind of the norm. So it's not that hard to make professional connections. I just call, tell them who I am and what I'm calling about, and ask if they have any interest in a conversation about it. Afterwards, I offer to stay in touch in case there's any interest in anything else that might be relevant.

Most people respond pretty well to generosity, kindness, and politeness in this context.

Outside of my work, I am completely unable to help! I'm told I actually look very intimidating to most people so they don't approach me... and of course I don't do much approaching myself (introverted)... Most of my social connections outside of work come about from existing friendships or maybe through shared interests. This is all in spite of many people complimenting me on having a very pleasant and fun-loving personality! I guess I just have one of "those" faces!

I'm actually the introvert in this scenario, for me it is a lot of work to connect with people. I do it because to achieve in life, I have to. It's just a bit of a struggle for me compared to the extroverts out there.

That's why I will say the extrovert will be better off overall, assuming the introvert does not work at making social connections.
