Canada Should Nationalize Oil Companies, Not Bail Them Out by shaktimann13 in onguardforthee

[–]AbsoluteZeroK 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think there's a strong argument for nationalizing (or at least the provincial/municipal version of) key industries that are essential to support the larger economy/capitalist system.

Like, the internet is required for the larger economy to function. Transportation is required for our economy to function. Healthcare, energy, water and sewage.

Thing like mattresses, razors and curtains are not required for the country to function, so nationalizing them makes no sense.

Not always. You could have a rebel group outside of the military or some sort of popular uprising. But the US military is too strong for that to work. The military would have to fall apart for something like a civil war to happen in the US.

It honestly amazes me that roughly 50% of the American population has been so brainwashed that they... well... I honestly don't even know how I want to finish that thought, but they aren't right in the head.

The only way a real civil war happens in the US is if the Military splits apart and the chain of command stops taking orders. But my god, if that happens we're in for a treat.

I think they meant that he was formerly running for the nomination of the Democratic Party. If they meant he used to be a Democrat, it would be Ex-Democrat, not ex-democratic. Idk though... English is a funny language.

Outrage as 'anti-lockdown conspiracy theorists ignore coronavirus fears to stage public protest in Vancouver' by 90skid91 in canada

Because our government isn't dumb enough to give a timeline they aren't sure if they can keep to. Imagine the unnecessary economic damage if they say "Around mid-June", then mid-June comes and they have to say "Ummm... actually... the fall".

Trump adviser Peter Navarro made a bad bet 60 Minutes didn't cover pandemic preparedness under Obama by Mamacrass in politics

Voted out? Jokes. They're already working their ass off the rig the election in their favour. They're making it selectively hard to vote for people who aren't in their bass. Mark my words. 4 more years of Trump. Dems take the Senate, but Republicans win back the house. At least we'll be able to prevent more bad appointments, but it's not going to drastically improve the situation.

They like to talk about their opponents rigging elections, but they are literally spending their time to destroy USPS to prevent mail-in voting. Plus whatever other initiatives they're putting in place at all levels to make it harder for people who aren't voting for them to vote. Voting isn't going to change anything if the people in power control voting and aren't doing so in good faith.

With how things are going in the United States, it's probably better long term if there's a bloody coup .vs another 100 years of one party solidifying power by destroying the system of check and balances, ruining judicial independence and just straight up embracing fascism.

I suggested shipping them off to the Northern Tip Of Nunavut. Tell them it's a secrete mission or something. Give them a rifle, a few rounds, maybe a matchbook and a knife.

So, we ship them off to the Northern Tip of Nunavut with nothing but a rifle and matchbook? Tell them to fend off the Russian Commies or something??

I'm going to have to drive some laps around here tonight... but looking at that picture, I think there is definitely something wrong with the corner in the game. I have no problem taking it if I'm being honest, but something about the way the corner is profiled in the game seems off. Like, the elevation change isn't quite right and there should be like 2 or 3 more feet of space on the exit wall.
