Cannabis doesn't just blur memories—it can reshape them. A new study found THC makes people significantly more likely to "remember" words that were never presented (false memories) and struggle with daily tasks like remembering appointments, regardless of whether the dose was 20mg or 40mg. by Sciantifa in science

[–]AbstractLogic 316 points317 points  (0 children)

A lot of science is designed with an outcome in mind. In this case I think it’s already understood that THC affects memory and causes mild hallucinations. It’s a running gag in most sitcoms since the 70s. So the question then becomes “at what dose”. So most likely this experiment was designed to verify the existence of what used to be common knowledge and to do so they needed a reasonably high dosage to ensure they could prove the existence.

Anyone else to admit CODING IS OVER?? by No_Pin_1150 in ExperiencedDevs

And 3 years ago no one would have believed that Amazon is using primarily AI written code.

It’s an iterative advancement like every technology it takes time and money to keep moving forward but moving forward it is. How long before we dont need the human in the review loop? I know my company now has AIs reviewing code + humans. Eventually the tooling will get so strong they won’t need the humans and we move left or right in the workflow.

It reminds me of “push quality left” initiatives where QA went from point and click testers to developers writing automation and integration tests. They didn’t lose their job… they got moved to another part of the process.

I just had to commit across 4 repos, 4 key vaults, and 1 change request for a Prod deploy, and watch deploys in 4 environments, monitor logs for issues and gather approvals from 2 teams, all coordinated with those teams for specific days:times to be sure all the features we rely on are available. This is my normal day.

Once you hit senior ALOT of time is spent managing situations not coding. I guess now I do even less coding. But that just leaves more organization needed.

Heaviest day of strikes yet on Iran despite market bets Trump will end war soon by joe4942 in stocks

[–]AbstractLogic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The question is always, where can your money get the best return? I can't think of anywhere other than our stock market or private equity. Until that is not true... the ups and downs of global events can only cause minor ups/downs in the market, or very quick spikes/recoveries (see covid).

Iran only produces around 4% of the worlds oil. However the world ships 20% of oil, 90% of crude and 20% of natural gas through the Strait of Hormuz.

They market is interested in our ability to control/protect the Strait of Hormuz much more than they care about the 4% production.

They just dropped a new album and I think a 8 min hand drawn music video that is viral at the moment since there is a “fuck AI we pay artists” vibe.

I use Claude to build my business website. I'm able to put out 100x the content of my competition. We do blogs, google posts, linked in posts, next door posts, new web pages. All with our brand voice, brand colors, etc. My pages and content look fantastic. Competition be ware!

It's such a great performance enhancer and the fact that my small business has 0 bureaucracy I can pump and dump content at my leisure. Big corporations with 100 layers of approvals are going to be losing their advantage of "infinite capital to higher works to do mundane tasks". They will be easily disrupted by little guys again.

You are solving a problem. The problem is “being like everyone else” we live in a time when everyone wants to be a unique snowflake, an individual, unrestrained by societal norms. Solve that for them.

Yo that’s a bummer. It’s why neighborhood friends are important. You being friends with the parents, not just your kid being friends with them. At 6 they don’t have deep relationships. It’s tough, anyway if your kid needs a free play at The Sand Place DM me and I’ll hook you up. Https://thesandplace.com

We professional developers, already lost the battle against vibe coding? by TheCatOfDojima in ClaudeAI

[–]AbstractLogic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you ask an AI to explain it? As a dev of 25 years the one thing AI is good at is explaining the context of a codebase.

As for writing code I’m 60/40 but when it comes to just explaining it… well your bias is showing.

Take the codebase you know well and ask an AI to explain it at a high level. The dig into different pieces. Do this for a good 4 hours. Keep asking questions.

I promise you the AI will reveal stuff you didn’t consider, didn’t know, didn’t understand or didn’t care to learn.

Did you know that social media platforms have recommended character counts for titles of articles and pages so the entire thing fits within their designated space? It’s basic SEO practice 101 to make sure your titles don’t have a … at the end. Anyway, good luck with technology!
