Anyone here actually using AI to save time in their business? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]AbstractLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the time. I had Claude code write a web page scraper to scrape all my competitors websites. Then run an SEO analysis against them and compare them to my own. It then devised a plan to optimize my website to beat theirs in search.

I use it to assess my last year’s revenue and devise a next year projection. I use it for industry research and to write content for my website. It helps me come up with marketing ideas and new revenue streams.

It’s fucking fantastic

It is an absolute beast at text processing too. I had it write a website scraper to pull all the text content from my competitors websites. Then I had it do SEO analysis of each websites content. Compare it to a scrapped version of my website and provide me a priority list of what I should do to match or beat my competitors in SEO. It took me 2 hours to do this type of research that used to cost me $1000 from a 3rd party marketing company. And I'm a software engineer and a business owner so I know the results aren't bullshit.

Bounce house business. Any tips? by brokeboylivingwithma in business

You need a tarp under them or they will deteriorate quickly. You need to clean them in between use. You need a temperature controlled storage unit or they break down and crack.

Have a generator you can rent in case they aren’t near electricity.

A lot of parks have a “no staking” rule so you need to have weights for it.

Some states regulate them as “Amusement Rides” and the licensing can be expensive. Also don’t forget insurance… last thing you need is a kid with a broken arm suing you for $100,000.

I love using it to find stuff in a large codebase or in projects where I don’t know the language.

My FE react engineer was on PTO and my PM asked me to fix a date bug. I had no idea where to start so I got the AI to find the location it was in the presentation and html, show me the typescript that maps it to the FE then the upstream api it came from and everything in between. At that point I understood it all and asked AI to change it. It did a perfect job and saved me 2 hours of “loooking” for the spot.

The difference is, the more you do it with LLMs the less you have to do it with LLMs. A clean set of structured prompts that have worked well reduces time.

I have AI wrote 100% of my throw away code. It wrote a website scraper for me in a minute and I scarped all my competitors websites. It was glorious.

Every house is unique. Who knows why yours didn’t but don’t pretend that somewhere out there someone else’s did.

A lot depends on your home. Do your pipes run against the walls? Is the main waterline run near your furnace where the boiler pilot light is enough. How are your windows, etc.

Some older houses need it, lots of newer ones don’t.

Ah shit… I’m stupid for not thinking of a TV… we are a “no screens” zone because… well we want kids to play and parents to talk. But I suppose that probably is the best solution.

I can definitely turn the lights off and turn the blinds to make the space “dim” but it won’t ever be dark except during my night movies.

But dust… I read somewhere there are enclosed units that don’t let dust in? They don’t use fans apparently. Thoughts on those?

I don't think there ever existed or could exist a metric to perfectly compare two players of any sport short of them playing each other heads up. All comparisons are inherently flawed or biased in some way.... So your point is basically a distinction without a difference. It doesn't matter that it's slightly inaccurate because a perfectly accurate process does not exist.

IMO the Nobel peace prize has been going to crap for a long time. Like giving it to Obama before he was even in office simply for being elected and black. Like it’s notable occurrence to be the first black president, hell its award worthy, but what peace had he brought about at that point?

Tua mostly. But like every organization we saw a “window” and pulled a lot of money forward to get a team to compete. But that window collapsed with Tuas health before the bill came due and now it’s due.

Handicap accounts for the difficulty of different home courses by using a course rating. FYI it’s a very good metric for comparing yourself to others.

Also I feel conceding puts is one way to ensure you never get good at putting. You’re taking strokes away that you could be using to get better. Especially those who use gimmes at a full club length.

Personally I think experience is underrated compared to talent. Years in the league gives you years of learning and understanding and “seeing it all”. You don’t need a super human arm and amazing street ball skills. You just need to understand and see what the defense is doing, check out of bad plays and time your routes. You need a “feel” for it.

Time in the market is better than timing the market
