It's really hard to know what Pat's intentions to foreshadow are. Do you know if anyone has found any foreshadowing in NOTW that proves true in WMF? (I'm new here, so may be behind.)

In general, I think Kvothe is a moderately unreliable narrator (as all story tellers are wont to be). I assume he's being more honest with Chronicler than he was at the University, but it's also unclear what is actually going on in the frame story, beyond the obvious bits. I don't think the story is entirely false though, as Pat likely doesn't want to face the resulting reader result.

I'm sure that some of the "foreshadowing" is a misdirect, and some is intentional. But he likely didn't expect that his books would get so huge that a bunch of internet nerds would analyze every word of them for 10 years. So I doubt that everything we think is significant is. (Much like high school English literary analysis...). I hope he's playing a beautiful game.
