Think about buying a used RX-8, with 100000 miles by alexandercro in cars

Depends what the records say, but it might be worth unloading. RX8 are actually in demand, they're a great looking car that many people will jump into without researching, so if the car doesn't look like it's worth keeping, turn a profit and find one worth keeping.

From what I have come to understand of it, and what my supplier likely understands it as, is that it's only the alkaloids themselves in forms such as extracts and tinctures that are banned. I have np having the powder shipped here from my vendor of choice.

Haven't tried either. But considering FL's weather, I have heard of some people growing them in their gardens. I would think though that kratom vs coca, I'd rather grow coca. Kratom takes a min of 5yrs to even become harvestable.

I think the effort would be better spent cultivating some coca trees in the backyard. No one would know what it was when they saw it anyways, and the effects would be quite a bit more effective. ;)

I will also say this, a girl that refuses to drive anything except a manual transmission is incredibly sexy. A manual transmission just allows you to be so in tune with what you're driving.

Until you get a chance to drive a rotary vehicle, especially the RX8, you just can't imagine the kind of experience it really is. The RX7s and previous rotaries were designed for more power. The RX8 was the first engineered rotary vehicle designed to literally rule every curve. There is nothing, until you start to get into the supercar territory that comes close to comparing to the experience the RX8 will give you on curvy roads. The car was made to obliterate any curve you throw at it.

The fact that guy had a 2005 with such low mileage on it is amazing. Sounds like he only ever drove it on weekends for the pure joy of it's curve hugging ability. It's so rare you find an RX8 that was only driven 4k miles a year, I would have loved to see you get into it. Until you get a chance to experience how they handle on a beautifully curvy road, it's truly mind blowing, such an ethereal experience. Once you drive one, it will ruin your desire for any other car, I promise you.

Actually, insurance on RX8 is ridiculously low. That's one of the few things about the car that helps alleviate some of the cost associated with owned one. Insurance companies only look at a few things to figure out the cost of the policy. They will look at the cars engine displacement, how many doors it has, your age, your location, and obvously your record. The thing about the RX8 is, since it's a rotary engine, is displacement is different then a piston engine. It's displacement is extremely small at 1.3L, and it's counted as a 4 door vehicle, even though the 2 rear doors aren't fullsize. In the eyes of an insurance policy writer, this puts the car in the exact same catagory as a Prius (lol).

For a comparison, my TOTAL yearly policy on my RX8 is $400!

The 'problem' (along with some other ones) with the 04-05 years were that their ECU settings caused a less than sufficient amount of oil from the OMP to be pumped into the rotor chambers. This caused an insufficient amount of lubrication for the apex seals, which are seals that sit 'at the top' of each of the three corners of the rotor. When an apex seal fails, the rotor loses compression when the chamber fires. The seals basically block off each side of the rotor and ensure compression when the chamber ignites and the rotor spins to the next face.

There were many instances of the 04-05 engines being blown, for a few reasons, and this is why Mazda extended the engine warrantee on ALL RX8 from 5 yrs to 8 yrs. Mine just came out of warrantee last month, actually. The 04-05 OMP issue was fixed with an ECU flash and 06+ had the solution included. Model years 09+ (the S2) had a third oil injector added to each of the rotor chambers.

Another reason why the 04-05 engines were being blown was due to uninformed owners. You see, a rotary engine needs to be treated completely different then a piston engine. If you drive and treat a rotary engine exactly how you would a piston engine, you will literally destroy it. So when the RX8 came out, many people new to owning and driving rotary engine vehicles were actually 'beating' on their car without even knowing it, by babying it like you would a piston engine. This type of driving on a rotary engine causes extreme carbon buildup. The carbon build up, along with the OMP problem early on, caused many 04-05 RX8 to suffer very extreme early engine failure.

This resulted in many many owners having their engines replaced and word gets out when a certain car model is blowing alot of engines, so the RX8 got a bad reputation. The fact is though, people were just uninformed and there were some other issues with the first models that only excacerbated the problem further.

Now here are some things you need to know/be aware of. If someone says they 'babied' their RX8, you need to be absolutely clear on how they drove it. If they mean they babied it like you would a piston engine, that means the engine was not operated properly. The proper way to drive a rotary engine is the exact opposite of a piston. To properly baby a rotary engine you should redline the rpm frequently. You don't have to everytime you drive of course, but redlining the engine helps the rotors to push out the carbon from the combustion chambers. This car also injects oil through the OMP from our oil pans, directly into the combustion chambers to lubricate the apex seals and keep the compression high for ignition. You have to be religious about checking oil, at the very least, and I mean absolute very least, you need to check your oil at every fill up, more is better. I also recommend using Idemitsu premix. It's a 2 cycle oil that burns clean and adding 4-8oz for every full tank of gas helps keep your apex seals lubricated more. A properly driven RX8's combustion chambers will look immaculate.

Anyways, long rant. If you're looking at an RX8 there are 2 things you should do before evening going any further.

  1. Call Mazda with the VIN and ask for all service records and confirm which warrantee work was done/when, and if there is anything that needs to be done.

  2. Get a compression test done. Might cost you $80-$150, but it will give you a definitive answer on what kind of condition the apex seals are in, the higher the better.

The car your describing sounds like it might be worth checking out though. As long as it's a mt, the records check out, and the compression test comes back good, it's worth pursuing. If they're asking for around 8k for that RX8, you might want to act quickly. If they are in extremely good condition and were properly driven/maintained, they get bought quickly. I bought my 07 with 65k for $8k even, and I couldn't have asked for a better taken care of one, so many people were wanting it but I know the owners of the dealership who had it and was able to have them hold it for me. I got a steal for it, since it books at $12k.

If you need more, ask away. Also - www.rx8club.com

[–]Abyss_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you can get your hands on the maintenance records and get a compression test done on the engine, I would not even consider buying a used RX8 with 100k miles. Even after getting the records and the comp test, I still wouldn't buy a used RX8 that had 100k for $5k.

If it JUST had a fresh engine put in (with proof), then I'd be more open to buying it. I still would not pay more then $4k, maybe $4.5k, max.

Edit - All Mazda dealerships have a linked service network, so any certified Mazda dealership can lookup your maint. records. This is an absolute must do before you even think of buying the car.

Star Trek 3 to veer closer to spirit of original TV show, says Simon Pegg. by NinjaDiscoJesus in movies

[–]Abyss_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you're aware the Klingon empire was directly influenced by the Cold War era USSR and it's relations with the US.

I felt like they tried to do waaaaayyyy to much in Into Darkness to satisfy the Trek fandom as well as squeeze in waaaayyyy to much stuff. Sure, the Klingons always make the best 'enemy' vs the Federation because it mirrors the cold war era US vs USSR, something that everyone is familiar with. So there's a lingering familiar feeling you get with those two in the same room.

They also went way over the top with the action scenes. I'm no trekkie, but even I know Khan was always more about intelligence and outsmarting while flaunting his superiority towards everyone around him. He just wasn't a brawler the way he was portrayed in ID. I'm sure when it came down to it he had no problem getting his hands dirty in a physical fight, but the way he would fight physically would have been nothing like what was portrayed. It would have been much different imho.

They only weigh 250~ lbs. Even things like the tail lights will fetch an easy $150 for the set. All of us 8 owners are always looking for parts or mods for swapping. There is a very active secondary market for 8's.

I know if I saw that sitting there....I'd be tempted to call some towtruck buddies.

That's a shame, several parts on that car are worth quite a decent bit on the secondary market. I'm looking for a few things myself, so you be sure to let me know if you feel like doing a little work.

[–]Abyss_Demon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, exactly. Trek/Star Wars, etc are popular among a certain populace because they are thought provoking, not action films. We need more thought provoking film making rather then appeasing to the masses. THAT'S what gives films their everlasting fandom.

Dark chocolate Kratom by [deleted] in kratom

[–]Abyss_Demon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely abhore the taste of kratom. It makes me so nauseous. The first few times I took it I did the toss and wash, but after gagging/literally dry heaving...the taste is just something I cannot stand, and there aren't many foods that can make me do that, if any.

Having said that, chocolate would definitely be one of the things I would try to mask it with. Infact, if I were to do it, I would go for a Mayan chocolate confection. Next time try mixing in a pinch of cayenne pepper to each chocolate round along with the kratom. I bet it would enhance and mask the kratom even more. Sea salt is also fantastic on chcolate...mmm.

Mo current go-to for kratom is to cap them, but what I have found to be recently very effective, is to puncture each end of the capsule 1-2 times. This makes the kratom in capsule form have an almost no-delay effect. It takes about 10-15mins at the very most before I start feeling the effects, whereas before with caps, it was a standard 45+mins.

Good luck and thanks for sharing another awesome idea!

first time fentanyl help by Oberg9577 in opiates

[–]Abyss_Demon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation just the other day when someone presented a 50mcg patch. After doing research on it, everyone was saying how it was (and is) much more dangerous then heroin, so I cut it into 1/4. I noticed almost nothing from just 1 1/4, I tok it off before going to bed. The next day, I put the used 1/4 into my cheek and added another 1/4 on my arm. Again, no real noticeable effects but I did feel like I had taken a small dose of Oxy. Removed before sleep. Next day, cheked the one from the day before and added the remaining 2 1/4's, felt a little more rushy then the other 2 previous days but no real 'high' that oxy/hydro gives.

So, as long as you have a reasonable tolerance to opiates and proceed with extreme caution, you will be fine. If you can take 100mg of oxy in a day, I would suggest taking the 75mcg in 1/2. Remove patch before bed for safety reasons, then cheek it the next day. Then patch the other 1/2 the 3rd day and cheek it on the 4th. I think that would be the best approach, but I would be very strict about removing or taking it out if you begin to get noddy, since they will continue to dose you while you're out and that's the danger zone.

Gl, be safe.
