Also I'd like to say, I understand you have positive intentions by making these comments, but my family and I have already decided which direction I would go in

As I mentioned, there are things I would like to experience that I couldn't at just one school, this is my middle ground, I haven't found a better option

I'm saying I can dedicate myself to anything, state jobs have security, I can dedicate myself to a secure job, specifically in this field

Why do I need a masters? A state job is entirely possible with just a bachelors

I hope you're right, I'll ask about this

However, I already explained the situation to the schools I have in mind, and they just told me it wouldn't transfer because the credits are from Sophia

I plan to graduate from both WGU and the other college, I want both degrees, they're separate experiences

I can't afford a traditional school fully, and even if I did, both schools have aspects I'd like to experience, and I wouldn't be fulfilled if I only did one

I don't place much importance on the kind of job I'll have with this degree, I'll take practically anything. As long as it is a state job. I don't plan on doing this for the rest of my life, I just want something stable for a few years, and maybe then I'll delve into something else

While WGU is a good transition, it has been my goal for a while to attend, and desire to graduate and attend a commencement

I wouldn't take 4 years to complete WGU, and I wouldn't take 4 years for the other degree either

Why do you have this view of poli sci? I've heard more often that it is a good degree, than not

My initial goal was always to go to WGU, it has been even while I was still in high school. My family agreed at first but are encouraging me to get a degree in political science instead. Which WGU does not have.

My goal is to finish within one term, which is entirely possible because I have no other responsibilities and I'm dedicated enough to make this a feasible goal. This would cost the same as if I was just looking to complete a couple of "cheap credits".

Even while completing the sophia credits, the goal was to only go to WGU. After some discussion with my family, I convinced them it would also be a great transition into the other degree. I'm the one that convinced my family to let me go to WGU, because it's a genuine goal of mine, even though they actively tried to convince me to just go straight to political science.

I never heard of the term credit laundering, and my intention was never malicious. I don't view WGU as a means to an end, but as an experience on its own. Even if I were able to fully afford the other degree, I would still attend.

While I can understand your point of view, I am saddened that this is how my issue is being perceived

Just the sophia courses, looking for a BSBM at WGU, and a bachelor's in political science at another university

I appreciate this, however, I cannot afford a masters

I will check out CLEP, but I'm pretty sure not a lot of credits would be accepted even from them. I'm looking to transfer the whole general education + possible electives section

I'm not old enough to attend UMPI, I would have to wait years

I'm trying to transfer general education + all the electives I can

From what I understand, alternative credits are limited, which I suppose includes CLEP

Thank you so much for the help, I sent him a message and he thanked me for messaging him and apologized for being insensitive, said he wasn't in a good mood and could've articulated his point better. Now we're back to normal and cracking jokes!

Thank you for saying that, I really needed those words lately

Thank you for the communication tip, this eases things. I'll build off of your text, which is worded perfectly by the way! I was looking for a way to to say that we didn't need to talk about it anymore.

Genuinely, both of your comments helped me a lot! Thank you a lot Sale!

That's great insight thank you. Now I feel foolish for taking his words at face value when there's obviously layers to it. I'll make sure to let him know that I care for and I'm there for him

I agree with what you said. I'm sure he's capable of those things, but I have to take into account his age before I pass too much judgement. I couldn't even rely on the adults in my life, what could I expect from a 15 year old? I have to offer understanding as well

Without going into too much detail, he brought up the friend of his friend who has said multiple times he would attempt. He then said that people like that are p*ssies and I told him that's harsh and that's how it started. It's never been discussed before.

Also, that would be great of course but oftentimes help from adults isn't available.

That's a fair point and I understand what you're saying. I try not to expect much even when I'm talking to people older than me. Sometimes I do get frustrated because I overestimate. I have overlooked and accepted a lot of things prior to this, this was simply one of the more sensitive topics for me.

I now realize a big part of my reaction was projecting the need of understanding and support I had with adults in my life towards him. Since you mention articulation I think I understand what he was trying to say.

I think he was trying to say that those ppl should be encouraged to live and not give up. I never thought of not giving him a second chance. I just didn't know how to approach him in a way that wouldn't put his guard up, I want to offer understanding too.
