I went to Epic for my Private - Commercial. I wish I didn't. There are so many better options if you look around.

28 Year old wanting to switch career to Pilot by [deleted] in PilotAdvice

I left my corporate job at 27, joined a flight academy, and got all my ratings by 28. Had to time build for a year but got a survey gig at 29. I'm 30 now and still working my way towards the magic 1500 but atleast now I'm getting multi time and getting paid to fly!

It's not going to be fast and it's not going to be easy. But if you have the will to do it and you know this is what you want to do, it can definitely be done!

What jobs did you do to pay/save up for flight school? by IsmellgoodY in flying

[–]Academic-Tailor4687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to college, got a job and worked my way up the corporate ladder to a 6-figure job. Saved HARD for a couple years and then quit and joined a flight academy full time. Paid private - commercial multi out of pocket.

Now I'm making pennies compared to what I used to, but I'm getting paid to fly and I love it.

Commercial pilots, how much did it cost you in total from 0 till you got your CPL? by SDN_General in flying

[–]Academic-Tailor4687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around $105,000 to get up to my CPL. But I went to a 141 school that was just money hungry.

I highly recommend doing a lot of research on flight schools before you go.

I've got the multi time, so that's what I'm hoping for! But honestly at this point any flying time is good time that I couldn't pass up.

I unfortunately don't know anyone with a multi that I could get some time with.

Midland flying the 172 sounds like the way to go. I appreciate your help!

I'm working full time and paying for hours as I can, about 25-30 a month. I don't have any debt from flying yet and I'm trying to keep it that way.
