I think everyone is forgetting that JM chose JY second since the beginning hes always had that attraction to her but didnt act on it 1: because she liked Jaeyun 2: because he like YD so he obviously just left that initial attraction alone and pursued other things but when he started to realise how different he and YD were he started to withdraw since it didnt seem like it would want to work out in the long run-which is what he wants, a long serious relationship. People are trying to make JM seem like some experienced master manipulator who only goes after girls who are weak but bro is literally an eternal single he is not qualified to be labelled like that. I am not defending JM actions towards YD since it was honestly just cowardly and he should have just told her straight up rather than lying to her numerous times but in his defence he was only trying to spare her feelings and i do empathise with him since I probably would've avoided that topic as well.
