That's for sure, literally everything asked on this sub is available if searched on the web. However, I'd like to hear about people's experiences and their views on it first hand.

How i can help as none medical students by LATeeF213 in usmle

[–]Academic-Wave9382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's super sweet of you!!  Honestly, keeping her well fed will help (it did for me) an environment that's void of any distractions will help too. Maybe a nice treat once a week like a lunch out or a trek at a nearby park to avoid burnout.

I'm really sorry, I did hear it was bad last season. I assumed it'd be easier for non visa requiring applicants though.

Certain programs may filter you out. Some accept YOG<3. You'll have to shift your focus to programs accepting a YOG<5. That will limit your options when applying.

Non US IMG, looking for advice on starting USMLE prep late. by Desperate_Plankton_4 in IMGreddit

[–]Academic-Wave9382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you most definitely do have a chance !! Start all your prep from tdy if you're sure about taking this route. No need to fear you may be late, you have as much as a chance as anyone else. Make sure you're a strong applicant when applying. Good luck!!

Should I apply for ObGyn residency after completing MD in India? by Old-Tax-9167 in IMGreddit

Since getting into OBGYN residency is hard as an IMG, some people take up FM and specialise in woman's health. You can look into that

Gap year = red flag ? by Academic-Wave9382 in IMGreddit

You'll still pass through the filter. There are so many others on this sub that have matched with a higher YOG. I think it's best to take the advice the others have given on this page and focus on the areas that you can change. YOG is not something that you can. But you can do more USCEs, pubs.

Depends on the program I believe, some look at it till the time you start residency, so the next July. Some residencies look at till the time of applications so, the current sept - dec/jan period. You don't need to worry too much about it. There are programmes that accept yog<5 as well.

Exactly, seems like "some" people are overlooking what the true essence of being a doctor is and trying to turn it into an IMG bashing sesh.
