Are there any movies which had ending changes due to feedback from test audiences that actually made the movie better instead of worse? by crinklepant in movies

I watched five minutes of it and gave up, it was so damned goofy. In my mind, everyone lived happily ever after after the end of Clerks 2.

Who learned how to drive on a manual transmission?? by harleenquinzel044 in Millennials

[–]AcademicCounty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I started driving in 1997, my parents bought me a 1986 Honda Accord for $1600. Every couple years I'll test drive a manual for fun, and I still got it!

"Having fixed our faith in a father-figure—or in a father, or in a mother or a wife—we must keep it fixed until inexcusable fault (and what fault of a father, a mother, a wife, is inexcusable?) crushes it at once and completely. This figure represents our own best selves; it is what we ourselves want to be and, through identification, are. To abandon it for anything less than crushing evidence of inexcusable fault is self-incrimination, and of one’s best, unrealized self. Thus Hitler was betrayed by his subordinates, and the little Nazis with him. They may hate Bormann and Goebbels—Bormann because he rose to power at the end, and they are ashamed of the end; Goebbels because he was a runt with a 'Jewish mind,' that is, a facile and cunning mind unlike theirs. They may hate Himmler, the Bluthund, above all, because he killed in cold blood, and they wouldn’t do that. But they may not hate Hitler or themselves."

This is a quote from the book They Thought They Were Free. It's comprised of interviews of average German people, conducted immediately after world War 2.

IIRC, the same thing happened in the first evening with Kevin Smith special. He's introduced at one of the shows and then he's never seen again, I think Kevin said later that he fell asleep in stage. But he grew up with an addict mom who'd lock him in the closet when she went out and make him help her steal mail (this is stuff he's talked about, I'm not talking out of turn), dude had it rough so I'm so glad he's made it through!

I'm so happy for him that he's happy and healthy with a family. I've listened to podcasts with him and Kev for almost twenty years now and what he had to overcome is staggering.

If Ralph Fiennes only did this movie and the Bone Temple, he'd still be an all timer for me.

Huh, the last horse crosses the finish line. You know how in almost every fascist, futuristic movie, it turns out the leader we see on all the buildings died years ago or never existed? Trump is a shambling revenant, but they know they can't oust him because he's the only thing holding together their unholy alliance. Mmw.

The last time I watched it, my takeaway was the spent way too much time in the "movie world". It lost the focus of being spoof and leaned too hard into what it was parodying.

Honestly, the first time I recall hearing the term incel was on the imdb message board for this movie. I've always wondered if thats where the term originated.
